If you want to see what an ineffective tag/run-with role looks like, then have a look at Brisbane's efforts on Macrae.

Jacko got 20+ possessions in each half.

Fagan acknowledged as much in his presser. It was partly that his guys didn't do a great job but mostly an acknowledgement that Macrae is a gun and one tough SOB. You could feel the respect....

OUT:
Honeychurch - poor, poor skills and giving away silly tags. Should go and visit Jacobs for some tagging advice.
Naughton - not a huge loss, first year player he will be back. But was definitely playing some good footy.

IN:
Trengrove - we needed a ruckman last night to nulify Martin a bit more. Boyd did a good job but needed support in the air.
Jong - I like him, he has a crack. Is better overhead and has slightly better skills than Honeychurch.

Webb should be given consecutive senior games just like Honey Jong Dale ad others were given even though they didn't dominate.
Confidence can do wonders.

Not really sure what the deal is with Webb. He has been given a fair amount of opportunity. Early on he looked good but in recent times he has really struggled to make an impact at senior level.

Don't know if giving him an extra game next week to build him up will help him or be counter productive.

He needs to realise that the opportunities are going to run out pretty quickly, and needs to play his next game like his career depends on it, because it quite possibly does.

Once some of the injured established players return to the side. Spots could be at an even higher premium than there are now.

He is in his Fourth year, is 22, and still very much a fringe player. The career warning light is blinking red, but he doesn't seem realise the urgency of his situation. If he did I think we would see a bit more desperation.

Love to see trengove come in to help in defence and the ruck.

Out - naughton
In - wood

Out - young
In - trengove

I’d let it fly as well and pick schache to allow us to maintain a forward target when Boyd rucks

Out - honeychurch
In - Schache

FB: wood cordy Williams
HB: crozier trengove JJ
C: Hunter Macrae Daniel
HF: Mclean gowers Lipinski
FF: Dahlhaus Schache Dunkley
R: Boyd bonti Macrae
IC: Dale, Richards, suckling, wallis

Agree that now we are coming to some serious opposition over the next X number of weeks, we can't continue to play those who need more time in the VFL, like Young. Bring in Trengove, tick.

Don't know about dropping Honeycrud, at least he goes in hard for the ball and goes all day. Crozier should go before him.

If English has freshened up, I would bring him in before Schache - think he needs to prove himself in the VFL more, show that he is desperate to make the seniors, not entitled.

Who else have we got coming back? Morris, the man who does not need to play VFL?

Would prefer Campbell in than Rough or Trengove at this stage. Especially against Jacobs. We’ll see Tom dragging him forward and Jacobs having to defend. Campbell can also play 90% in the middle.

Am I missing something with Crozier? This guy has averaged 12 disposals per game throughout his career playing mostly back flank. These are the stats of a KPD not a flanker. To me he looks slow, stiff and proppy and doesn't create much run. Surely others must see something else that eludes me?

Naughton for Wood is the obvious one.

Webb just isn't up to it. Watched him very carefully and has a way to go. Prefer Jong in the team personally. If we want another ruck Webb makes way

Would you prefer Webbs nine many of which set up attacking plays for us or 11 Jong touches many of which stop attacking plays for us and some that set up oppo goals????

Meanwhile Honey chugs along undropped.

Barrel bottom scrapings.

It is obvious that we are 'carrying' a few players at present due to injuries. With a full list available, Honey, Webb, Young and Crozier would be playing VFL. We will have to persevere with them until others return which means accepting their weaknesses and not being overly critical - including me.

We need to sign Webb to a 10 year contract and name him in all 220 games. No way is 4 yrs long enough to find your spot in a best 22. Something needs to be done or Bevo has to go.

Honey was dropped but got a reprieve and he starts ahead of the other two for mine. Webb costs us in other ways. Had occasions where he just had to halve the contest and didn't. Jong brings that, despite his faults. He is also more of an aerial target and we need a few of those.

I think we may have had this discussion a week or so ago. I like Honey, Jong then Webb in that order at the moment.

If Webb is to play consistent footy, he needs to be better when he doesn't have the ball. As he only gets it 9-10 times, he needs to improve in that area quickly.

Morris, Adams and Wood are all supposed to be available v Crows. Doubt we take in both Moz and Grizz but think one would be handy along with Wood.

Out: Naughton
In: Wood

Out: Young
In: Morris

Out: Honey
In: Trengove

This is EXACTLY what needs to happen.

Anyone who says Shaq should come in obviously didn’t see any of the vfl game. Sure he kicked 3 goals but he had 8 disposals and cant tackle to save himself. He’s a long way off afl standard. He would actually be worse than honeychurch which is saying something

Not saying you are wrong but boiled down I'm just a dumb fan who likes to barrack for our players.

The difference for me is that I barrack for Webb to get the ball as good things happen in the rare event he does.

Sadly, I find myself hoping Honey and Jong don't get the ball for fear of what might happen. I hate watching footy with that mindset - I know its wrong but it is what it is and I guess that's why I prefer they don't play.

For me its

Naughton out injuired/ rested
Young out omitted
Webb out just not upto it for some reason

in

wood for young must if availible

trengove in for naughton

roughead in for Webb.

all of a suddon oyr team has experience and 3 talls against a tall team away from home.

Trengove an absolute must. Really need him to play back but Bevo doesn’t see it that way. Young and Cordy vs Walker and Jenkins scares me.

Depends on who is available for Adelaide.

Out: Naughton, Richards, dale
In: Roberts, wood, Trengove.

I have really liked Roberts' performances in the vfl for the past two weeks. I'll be annoyed If we trade or delist him.
It's a very good point as depends on who we have fit & available.

Milera, Knight & Hartigan are all outside chances to return. Murphy, Fogarty & Hampton only options in the sanfl.

Walker & Jacobs missed chunks of the game, but hopefully pull up ok. Gov also had 2 heavy knocks.

Best case scenario, with alternatives in brackets.

B: Brown, Talia, Kelly
HB: Doedee, Hartigan (Otten), Laird
C: Seedsman, Mrouch, Atkins
HF: Lynch, Walker (Fogarty), Knight (Gallucci)
F: Betts, Jenkins, McGovern (Fogarty)
R: Jacobs (O'Brien), CEY, Gibbs
I: Milera (Mackay), Greenwood, Douglas, Murphy

Webb is a fascinating player. Has AFL attributes - disposal, decision making and clean overhead. Racks up possessions in VFL, but can't go close to replicating this at AFL. My feeling is that he is a yard off the pace (i.e too slow, in both speed and reaction time) at the top level. I don't think he is lazy, just don't see repeat efforts due to the pace of the game being too quick for him. Not sure if he has enough white line mongrel as well.

I haven't seen him live, though on TV Sat PM, it looked like he was in some good spots, though teammates took different options.

Honey, Jong and Campbell NO, though I still haven't ruled a line through Webby. He has another year on contract, so must be rated internally. MUST start to put some +20 disposal games together or will disappear into the abyss. I'd give him another week.

What is the most string of games Webb has played in a row for the AFL team? If other players who are questionable can be given 5-10 games to adjust to the pace of AFL, then cannot compare the same if he is in and out every week or two. I'd like to see him get a solid run and see if he can find his feet first

We definitely will not get away without playing a first choice ruckman this game.
I get a feeling this game will either be a blow out or very close
