Prediction Changes v Collingwood (Round 2)

Throw Poulter into the mix - good grab above his head and a thumping boot.

Out: Cleary, JOD, Garcia, Dolan, Gallagher.
In: Poulter, Buss/Buku, Garcia, Croft.

Jones on the ground to add pace. Croft sub.
Garcia didn't play, and you have him out and in so I gather he is an in,also Croft missed the VFL game with injury .

Not sure when Poulter has shown he has a thumping boot or anything special with his marking but you clearly rate him significantly higher than I do.

Otherwise the only real difference you have is Poulter for Gallagher which I can't see happening, rest we agree on

I'm concerned lobb will miss too.

Knee to the head would have most people with through protocols. Add the should/pec/rib incident and I'm not optimistic.

Also I think Gardner has to come in down back. He's not a great defender but at least he can play a bit in the ruck

Out: Cleary, JOD, Dolan (back to sub)
In: Busslinger, Khamis, Arthur Jones

FB: Duryea, Lobb, Khamis
HB: Dale, Busslinger, Bramble
C: Davidson, Libba, Williams
HF: Kennedy, Naughton, VDM
FF: West, Darcy, McNeil
R: English, Richards, Sanders
Int: Harmes, Jones, Freijah, Gallagher
Sub: Dolan

The fact that he still managed 100% game time is amazing. Huge effort.

Are we going to drop Garcia and bring him back at the same? That'll show him.

He wasn't in last night's squad so suspect that was an error
Through it in there to see if anyone would pick up on it…..

Well done, Garcia should be in the side for me most weeks Doggy.

I’m not sure this is a fair assessment of Dolan - an 18yo who was playing his first AFL game and who had an interrupted pre-season. He’s also about 60kg soaking wet and the step up from u18s to the pace of AFL is quite a large one. He will get stronger and more match fit as he matures
Plus running approx 10 kms in 37.c heat is only for seasoned athletes.

Out: JOD, Cleary and Dolan and McNeil

In: Buss, Khamis and Garcia and Jones

Dolan out just as part of his development - he played OK and did some naturally smart things but we just need to give him time to develop - looks good but needs more development.

McNeil did get a couple of goals but for most of the game he had no impact - he also didn’t do the work to move his defenders around - he just let them wrestle with him like he was about bigger.

Buss in - only remaining Fullback other than Gardner. Lobb would be playing on McStay who is 196 but a big unit.

But then Buss to Mihochek sounds like a bad mix - he is more of a Darling like player - solid but only 192 so uses jump and mobility - so probably best suited to Khamis.

But Buss in allows us to rotate Khamis forward - which we need to give them a breather also and ease him in. But also we need to give Lobb some rest in games - it is a small turn around between games - he played all game and looked gassed.

Buss looks like he could be a star but we should develop him properly not throw him to the wolves in his first game. This rotation role is perfect.

Membrey is really more a mid forward who is 188 and is well matched to Williams or someone like Coffield (who seems injured) so that’s him.

We need more from our small forwards. Garcia brings tackle pressure and with West can run through the middle. He does butcher it but that’s why I would play more minutes forward. In the mids we need much better speed and tackling. North showed that against us.

Artie brings creativity and more up the ground.

Out: JOD Cleary (injured)
In: Buss Garcia

Please no gardner.

B: Duryea Buss Bramble
HB: Dale Lobb Freijah
C : Davidson Libba Williams
HF: Harmes Naughton Kennedy
F: West Darcy VDM
Ruck: English Richards Sanders
Int: McNiel Garcia Gallagher Dolan Jones

One of jones or Dolan as sub.

May need an extra tall in buku but knowing beveridge he is more likely to roll Williams back as a third tall type.

Gallagher was poor but guys who can roll through defence are limited atm due to injuries.

Gutsy win Boys! Let’s keep the good times coming. Who’s next? A completely regenerated Collingwood? At their first MCG game of the year! With a list as thin as margarine!

Savour this feeling everyone. It could be a while.

In: Buss, Garcia, Garcia
Out: JOD, Cleary, Dolan

Keep it simple.

Edit: Upon further inspection, this will not be the Pies first game at the ‘G’. My mistake. Doesn’t change the fact we will be outnumbered at our own centenary celebration. GET DOWN TO THE MCG EVERYONE!

Hey Doggies fans. I hope you don’t mind this intrusion.
Congratulations on the 100 years, this should be a great game. Hoping we can spoil your celebration.

Just wondering why you would request this big game against us. Surely the Essendon scumbags are a more bitter and fitting rival for your anniversary.
Especially considering the fact they have been trying to get rid of you for 100 years.

1.Collingwood are a big club which guarantees the celebrations our club has planned will be seen by many outside the club

2. On the whole Essendon front. You don’t invite your bully to your Birthday party do you? Collingwood and Footscray have quite a jovial relationship historically.

3. I couldn’t stand losing to Essendon at our celebration round. And with how light our squad is at the moment, Unfortunately, it would be a real possibility.

There is probably some other huge points that I’m forgetting but there is a few.

Fair call.
Two working class clubs and a big crowd. Should be a great game.

I think we’re trying to set a record for highest H&A attendance at a Dogs game, Pies are the ones to ask. I think there’s a decent relationship between clubs too. We’re taking care of Treloar, you’re taking care of Lipinski.

Hopefully Treloar is ready to play. There is still a lot of love for him at Collingwood.

Given Croft is in the rehab group and Trealor is probably not quite ready I would look at the following changes:

Out
JOD inj
Cleary inj
Dolan omitted (spent entire 3rd quarter on the bench. With injuries we need players that can run out a game)

Ins
Buss (why he wasn't played in the pre season to prepare for his debut is a mystery)
Buku as the 3rd tall. We are down further in that role now so his opportunity is now
Garcia to play West's role with more mid time foe West

If Croft was fit he would definitely be in though not ready as he can play multiple positions and is ferocious in the contest

Shame there was not a proper game for those who missed out on senior selection. I would be tempted to throw Lachie Smith in as first ruck as he would be more competitive than Tim was.

Surely we don’t destroy another small fwds confidence after 1 game.
Dolan deserves another game, even if it’s as sub.

He is off a limited pre season and was benched for the 3rd quarter in a game in extreme heat. Nothing to do with what he deserves, more what his body is capable of in a 6 day break.

Confident if we look after his body will be in our best 23 year end

He's been running well for some time but we are extremely conservative all the time. Yet it doesn't help us.

We played Treloar in last year's final half fit and it didn't help us.

It's the start of the season and given Treloar's history we need to be conservative. We need him fully fit for the 2nd half of the season and hopefully for finals. No need to rush things just yet.

I do like how we think we can be ultra conservative and come home with a wet sail.

Every time that has happened it hasn't worked out because we have left ourselves far too much to do and we run out of steam.

Why will this year be any different if we are going to leave it all until the back half of the year? Genuine question, because you know what they say about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

People extremely harsh on Dolan. Efforts, chasing and good positioning were all there, you can't teach those. Just needs that break out on the scoreboard. Most of our players couldn't hit a target inside 50 either, he can.

OUT: Cleary, JOD
IN: Buss, Khamis

Gallagher deserves to be dropped. But survives as we have no one else, and Clearly provided some run.

We started slow in other seasons because we genuinely sucked on match day, not because of injuries.

The other option you say, is to rush people back. But then if they redo said injury, and are out for weeks or months again, then what? You have to be conservative. Repeated redoing of the same injury, can lead to chronic issues, or the long term threat of redoing it again, and again. We have zero choice but to lift and grind out the results. We can cover the midfield for now, its the backline that is the biggest issue at the moment. Lobb is already banged up from carrying only one week in.

Gardner just has to play fellas. MCG, big crowd, enormous pressure against one of the Premiership fancies.

This is why we keep Gard’s protected - unleash the ill-timed fist for the world to enjoy.
It’s the defensive goal square fumbles that get my dopamine going
