So much to look forward too with Mayne and Blair looking like possible selections, not to mention Broomhead.

Broomhead is another draft bust for mine. 6 years on the list and barely has shown anything in that time. Does not impact contests and does frnakly not bring much to the table (there are a few on our list with similar attributes i.e Smith, Aish etc)

I think Broomhead is more impactful than those two and I thought he showed a bit last year. This pre season he hasn't impressed me, I was expecting more improvement but he isn't a lost cause for mine.....yet....

GWS must be licking their lips, Mayne, Broomhead and Blair coming in, if that doesn't put fear into you I don't know what will, just a matter of time before Bucks is gone I would imagine, just put some games into the kids FFS, those 3 are just stopping the development of younger players

He hasn't proved to be a big goal kicker to date though outside a handful of matches.

That might change this season but most likely if played forward he'll kick his 1 or 2 while Patton or Cameron down the other end who are more proven threats will get off the leash with only an undersized Dunn or Howe to stand them.

If we want to play Moore forward then Mihocek or McLarty need to come in to take his defensive spot.

Mihocek to Cameron and Dunn to Patton with support over top from Howe and Langdon.

Mihocek did very well vs Cameron in jlt.

Leave Moore fwd.


Not sure how we kick a winning score with Reid as a sole fwd (with no elliott and fas) to allow Moore to stay in def.

What I don't understand is why is Buckley willing to play Mayne after one 35 possession game in a VFL practice match, yet Fasolo also got 35 possessions in the same game, and apparently he is not ready.

It is rather obvious that Fasolo is a far greater forward threat then Mayne. if Buckley cannot see this, then I suspect his greatest weakness might be judging football talent....

They could both come in so perhaps wait until selection before jumping off the top rope.

Buckley is a stubborn mule. Moore is a forward, let him stay there and become the talent he should be. The guy has the talent to be one of the top 3 in the game. Absolutely wasted down back when we have Howe there and Reid fit enough to go back to his AA positions ...

If adamant with Reid forward Moore should be the lead up to the wing type forward linking up with Reid with one of his lovely kicks into the forward line.

Mayne alone basically makes us one man down from the bounce down. He offers absolutely nothing. He isn’t damaging in any way. No pace, doesn’t get into good spots, too slow to be an effective defensive forward, doesn’t kick goals.

I really hate the we’ve become so shit I have to can one of our players..... but facts are facts, if we are still playing or considering guys like mayne and Blair we are Pharked.

I've missed this too. Buckley definitely hinted Mayne but I missed the club hinting Blair or syaing Fasolo was not going to be picked this week.

personally eventhough he had a shocker i would like to see Aish stay in the team.
Would like to see Sharanberg and him have a block of 5 games to show there worth. they have in my opinion great up-side great skills unlike many of our players i am sick of them being in and out of the team every second week.
buckley has given blair a block of 10 and 15 games to show his worth why not give these two kids at least a five game block.
Would like to see some risk taking in our line up against GWS. without going to extreme.

Would also like to see Sier get a game.
Lets not forget Aish had a lot of mates Varcoe Crisp Thomas to mention a few who could get dropped instead of him.

God shed a tear for the GWS this week , get on board ppl , TAB , Ladbrokes whatever your preference . I dont know why but the gut tells me we will pull off one of those against all odds wins , "Sometimes darkness can show you the light " .

The problem with this is is that is continual, for the last 2 years minimum. Geelong last year then carlton the next week, so it's not a light you're looking at - it's a false dawn and if we continue this way we'll continue this way.

We have to go up or down - dramatically! As for the changes it looks like Mayne is coming in for Cox. Ok but if we don't improve and it some point it looks like it will be de ja vu then we have play the kids for the remainder. If we improve and look like playing finals and having an impact then that will save us.

It has to be up or down, there is no room to move on this. Improve or develop the kids.

Not sold on Reid as the Medium/Long Term KPF. I would Consider swapping Reid and Howe

A perfect summation of the situation. The problem is.. with our habit of achieving upset false hope wins and staying in the hunt for finals till late in the season...... at what point do we make this call? For mine.. should've been done 3-4 years ago but instead we've been sucked in by our own false dawns or fudging to save the coaches job rather than building towards a genuine flag tilt ( like last year.)

Buckley all but said it said it in his presser here when asked if Fasolo will return:

"Fasolo was good in the VFL last week. He was quiet in his first 2-3 games, but his attitude, effort + output were a lot better on the weekend. We need to see that a bit longer," Nathan Buckley.
