Ah Chee's played a couple of good games in a row and the question marks are on Oscar and Gov. Ah Chee won't be getting dropped.
Agreed, Ah Chee didn’t have the same impact against the Crows as his big game against the Hawks but watching the replay he gave the mids chop outs by going in for the odd centre bounce, had a great gather and handball to JK to set up a goal and did a few other decent handballs to set up scoring chains.

Would at least hold onto a bench spot given his flexibility I would have thought.

Exactly. He did his job. That's all you ask of your fringe guys.

Sunday game so team announcement today will be some sort of vague list

Expect the 22 that played against the crows minus Gov plus Hurn, Ryan, Edwards and let’s say Xon and Legs Langdon to round out the 26

Still looking forward to the return of the traditional Thursday arvo meltdowns on here. Gosh I've missed them.

Agree Hurn for Gov.
Ryan for either Ahchee or Waterman. My preference is Waterman but think the MC will go Ahchee.

Unless they decide to push OA back to cover Gov and fill the forward spot with Ryan and one of Cole/Nelson/Witherden/Rotham to come out for Hurn? I think this is less likely but still a possibility.

People still actually dropping Witherden? Surely he would be the first player ever to get dropped after getting 30 disposals.

What is his job in the team? Distributor off half back right?

8 of his possessions would have been kickouts after a point.

Hurn's kicking is the equal - and Hurn can defend

If Witherden stays - then Cole goes which means the MC are making a decision to attack more off half back at the cost of defence.

The only other option which is likely to play out is Hurn comes in for Gov and the decision is kicked down the road for another week

We all complaining about NN being negligent with his playing weight, yet it’s sloppy rig Gov getting increasingly fragile as time goes on.

Highest paid player on the list, vice captain, getting older and had injury problems last year - he should have come back in as good shape as possible.

To be fair to him, I thought he actually did look a little better in pre-season than he has previously. But still, he's been in the system for years now, has been relatively uninjured, has had numerous pre-seasons and could do better.

Genetics will never allow him to be Langdon (and thank god with those baby legs), but come on Gov, tighten that shit up.

I'd go the second option. Pull out a small defender for Ryan. While they are all only second string at it. Ah Chee, Jones, Cripps and Ryan lead to much more running focussed ball movement heading forwards and as long as Ah Chee keeps up the second efforts (he has the last couple of weeks but it's been a past weakness) I'd drop cole just for 1 week so we can see how Hurn and Witherden work together. If Hurn and Witherden don't gel offensively then cole comes bak in Witherden's spot.

If we keep a structure of 7 defenders in the side then there is going to be some unlucky players when we're fully fit. Barrass, Gov, Hurn, Sheppard and Duggan are auto selections. Rotham great defensively, a good kick but not very offensively focussed. Nelson the best defensively of the others and actually a very good kick and now not having a lot of the old issues which pissed supporters off out of his game. Can also tag. Witherden the best offensively, can get a shit load of the ball but is slow and the weakest defensively. Cole is a good defender, hard at it but still regularly gets beaten more often than not in one on ones and isn't as offensive or with the same utility as say Nelson. 2 play and 2 miss the 22. Personally I would go smaller and have hurn/shep being third up / covering marking targets taller than them and play Nelson and Witherden if his kicking can link well with Hurns.
