But you could say that about the HBF we drafted like Duggan and Shep too. Failed as midfielders (WITH POTENTIAL!!!), turned into HBF.
Pick 12 if true, come on down the Poo with pick 8Not sure if its true but apparently Gibney said on the news he would prefer to stay in WA. Has anyone heard this also?
I don't think Sheppard was seen as a HB. It certainly took us time to settle him into that spot.
I don't dispute that, but, i think that would offer something of a cautious tale, because it was clear as day that Chris was one of those kids that grew early and then found themselves out of their depth, strength wise, once they hit the AFL
For me the crux was, and still is, what is going on with our strength and condition. Because we have a very poor record of getting our kids bigger, and particularly, stronger. Unless they arrive at the club fairly well built by the time they get to us they start skinny, and stay skinny
Its long been an Achillies heel but thankfully, if the off season talk is be believed this area of our club is finally being revamped
Just on Masten.
IIRC he did try and bulk up to play an inside mid role at AFL but his frame and skeletal structure said ‘no’.
During his time with us Sam Mitchell said something along the line of ‘play to your strength’ which saw Masto resume normal service of run, run and run.

Nisbit couldn’t find chicken on the menu at Red Rooster never mind a footballer at the draft combine
Come draft week I want Nisbett on a fishing trip in the north with a satellite phone that doesn’t work and basically no contact with anyone at our club. If legal I’d like him in a medical coma wearing sunglasses so he can’t communicate by blinks . Just keep him away
If he is around he will probably have us drafting Edward Allen with pick 8 because his first name has mystique with Martin Frederick at pick 12 because he wants to one up Freo
Don't think it would put anyone off.Look, our side could do with a bit of FIGJAM, so this doesn’t put me off.

I still think Ginbey at 8 but really think the Eagles will be looking at Hewitt with pick 12 hes been training with the Eagles previously and was considered a top 5 pick half way through season until he got covid. WC know more than anyone how much that can disrupt a season.
Was thinking similar. There doesn’t seem to be too many selections at our picks that we’d be melting over. Obviously we all have our preferences in here but it’s hard to see O’Brien stuffing up pick 8 touchwoodFor a weak draft we seem to have a lot of possibilities across all of our picks.
Bodes well.
And you know this about Todd Nisbett how exactly?
We have no idea on how individual recruiters work - good, bad or indifferent.
From the outside we only see the results of the recruiting department as a collective
I get that people see him as a nepotistic appointment and that his father is somewhat on the nose. That said, Trevor Nisbett, despite arguably outstaying his welcome, has been a very successful CEO for a long time. It’s not beyond the realms of imagination that some of his knowledge has been passed down to Todd
With Todd involved last year we had a successful draft so I see no reason to panic that we’ll get a good result this draft with the picks we have
Maybe he is out of his depth, I have no idea. Nor do you
So maybe put the hatchet away unless you have clear evidence to support your opinion
I’m thinking we look to trade a future 4th to pick up Broadbent from 40 onwardsA draft haul of
8. Busslinger/Ginbey/Phillipou
12. Hewett
20. Allan
26. Jones
I’d be totally content with
Can’t split those 3 at 8 as each has their attractions for different reasons but I think Busslinger balances that group of selections better than Phillipou or Ginbey
Broadbent as a ruck option in the rookie draft if he lasts till then (perhaps unlikely) would round it all out quite nicely imo
I’m going for the all WA kids draft, and I can with confidence say that I’ve only ever managed to pick one or two that WC actually pick. We really do need another Ruck so maybe one of those will be a tall, who knows, my 2 cents worth anyway.
Ginbey
Hewett
Allan
Kaleb Smith
Would definitely add a lot of pace to the team, given that Bond007 has implied that we would have taken Cadman at 2 if he was going to be available, I wonder if we’ll be chasing another tall like Keeler or if we’ll just wait until next years draft, to chase a quality tall?If that's the way we go, you would have to be happy with those selections.
No, then ginbeySo have you all come to terms with Busslinger and Ginbey being your first two picks, and Hewett ending up at Sydney?
I think it’ll be Busslinger or Ginbey, not both. Possibly one will already be gone by pick 8 and I’d be very surprised if either got through to 12So have you all come to terms with Busslinger and Ginbey being your first two picks, and Hewett ending up at Sydney?
