He's shown a few nice evasive tricks, but he's also been pretty fumbly below his knees.
At this stage the query I have is how he’d go with the physicality of a midfield role. Right now he’s at his best when he gets a run and jump at the ball or when he can swoop on a loose ball then use that movement. He could be a 60 goal forward, but I’m not convinced he can be that level as a mid long term until he can take it from inside the contest to the outside.

Agree. Can't see him on the inside any time soon. In terms of midfield, it probably depends on how you define midfield - as he'll play some high half forward and wing. But can't see him at stoppage.

Think we'll be targeting Darcy Parish given how annoyed he is with Essendon.

I bloody hope so

I would add that his tank and pace could also be lacking for a mid role.

His great hands would also be wasted in a mid role. Fwd or back is where that strength needs to be deployed.

I reckon Wrighty would be carefully monitoring Fiorini. Hopefully he’s out of favour again this season and we can get him in cheap.

I think if we’d really wanted Fiorini we would have just grabbed him last year. Unlikely we make a play for him again imo.

Is Ben McKay a big name?

I don’t really get the hype, personally.
I wouldn’t regard him as a big name, but he’s a very good defender and would compliment Moore nicely. In the same class as McStay imo.

We rolled the dice on Frampton and Dean this year. Dean's already out with injury. I liked the Frampton pick but it's a gamble and no cert. Depending on how he goes this year, McKay may look like a really big name for us by years end.

I think you’re right about the bolded I’m just not 100% because I’ve always struggled to peg the speed of those bouncy laconic types. Langdon’s the obvious comparison on that front and I never bought in to the commentary on here that he was quick. I suspect a lot of posters confused Langdon’s excquisite positioning and play reading with closing speed. The other would be Bolton who never seems to shift out of 3rd gear, but has serious wheels. Henry feels more similar to Langdon and pace needs to be balanced in a midfield.

Agree with tank he has no repeat efforts in him currently and I find it fascinating that a guy so clean overhead can be “fumbly” at ground level (he’s no Goldsack, but he’s definitely no Neale). Thank god we worked Mitchell into that deal otherwise it looks ugly.

But we DID work mitchell into the deal. We played Geelong very well ( after they cynically executed some trade switches thinking they were painting us into a corner) and got maximum benefit out of losing a required player.

Thanks captain! It was a back handed compliment to Henry nothing more…

That Langdon was often listed among the few cited for in-game top kph might be the more logical reason for some thinking he was quick, and his closing speed.

Sprint testing and GPS data both concurred with the view of Langers being seriously quick. I agree that Henry looks to be a similar sort of athlete to Langers - pace disguised by a laconic air.

Langdon , especially around season 3-4, held onto the ball looking for better options instead of going 1st opportunity. He used his pace to make sure he didnt get caught when space tightened and he rarely was but he often looked rushed in that setting.

Think part of what gave him confidence to hold onto the ball longer was knowing he had pace to get out of trouble.
