Much like I said to GC supporters about Witts when he went to GC, if we recruited Moyle he’d be every chance of being our starting ruck next year. He’s as good as Cameron already and will only get better.

If we got Moyle I'd be happy to trade Cameron out for a profit to a club that needs a ruck (Sydney or Port?) but that would probably be a bit harsh after the first year of his three year contract extension.

p.s. Yes I know Grundy is going to Sydney it was just a hypothetical because we're not getting Moyle anyway.

Wonder if anyone knows what happens with Draft value pick points once the draft starts, for example, are draft value pick points baselined at the start of the night or do they move in value as picks are assigned associated with a pick on the night
The points values change as the picks move up and down the order as a result of bid matches on father son / northern club Academy prospects.

Sydney will get Grundy and Port will get Sweet. I’d be happy to let Cox and Cameron battle it out for the ruck/forward spot next year and if Cameron requests to move on so be it.

Why would a player that is about to get a GF gig request to be moved on. It's not happening

A lot of rucks peak quite late. I think Cameron is still developing and hasn't hit his peak yet and would be fine with us doing nothing re ruck and backing him in.

Moyle would be bloody awesome, but I reckon GC recognise that too

Darcy Cameron has developed beyond what I thought was possible when we traded for him.
It might come across as an over exaggeration but I thought he was probably the best performing ruck over the opening weeks of the season before his injury.
Since then, been very very average.
He does most things ok, but doesn’t have any traits that really stand out.

Reading comprehension. I said I’d be happy to have them fight it out next year and if Cameron requests a trade then so be it. Nothing about him being traded this year.

I suspect you’re right, but I’d be grabbing Moyle if the opportunity arose. He’s a 10 year first ruck. Then you’ve got the opportunity to develop Steene/Begg as that ruck/forward to partner him.

For me it would very much be if the price is right rather than a make it happen Wrighty situation.

Yep know that would happen as I said, just saying that Moyle would be a fantastic get and potentially better as a future ruckman than either one as they stand right now. Was nothing short of excellent in the VFL prelim yesterday arvo and has come a very long way in the past couple of years.

Murphy is playing KPP and he’s hardly taller than Pendles too
It’s not just height. It’s also about reach and body shape. Murphy is quite broad across the shoulders and is built more like a key position player than Pendles even though they’re the same height.

I really wanted moyle in the MSD we got Johnson in

Johnson’s been a great pick up but even then to me Moyle looked a class above what most 18 year old rucks do

Certainly room for Moyle with Cox, Cameron, Steene, Begg, Frampton

Begg is just a pinch hitter. Not 1st choice ruck in size or ability there. Had a nice couple of games late in the season but one swallow does not make a summer - verdict is out

Steene looks like a decent, developing ruck prospect - but given his VFL performances in the ruck he is still 18 months at best to 2 years off seniors though imo

At 32 and with some serious prior injuries… Cox is a year to year proposition.

Cameron is only 28. Been a great pick up. Shines at times as primary ruck and a solid contested mark - I’d keep him but his form still has to warrant game time

Frampton is never going to be a primary ruck. Nor is he a ruck forward of decent ability

Is more utility depth in the way Keeffe was/is who can fit a week or two fill a ruck hole somewhere if injuries hit

So realistically with a coach who is not likely going anywhere anytime soon… and who steadfastly prefers a 2 ruck model

Having Cameron, Cox, Steene, Beeg, Frampton and Moyle on the list in 2024 would not be a problem for mine

Cox, Cameron, Moyle battling it out for two primary ruck spots

Steene developing for 2 more years

Begg with his improved marking ability should become a key back now.. an area we are lacking in

Frampton (who’s been great for a cheap pick up) just a spare parts man who maybe finds a home at KPD if Murphy or Moore is out

And whilst mcstay can adequately ruck forward… the club seems determined to play him solely as a primary forward

##########

Moyle ought to be a cheap pick up as has only played 2 career games

Should not cost more than a late 2nd round pick at best

And I think if promised a real look in at the pies primary ruck role… Victorian Moyle would leave… as GC will have their captain Witts in their primary ruck role for potentially 3-4 more years and have 200cm ruck Ethan Read coming through their academy this year

If you picked up a young ruck like Moyle, I doubt you'd keep Begg.

I think that's pretty assumptive - with the ruck and forward options we have, he prefers to have both Cox and Cameron in the team - would that be the same if AJ or Kreuger were either more reliable forwards or better rucks? If you want two tall forwards and a ruck on the ground all the time, you've basically got to play an guy who can play a combination or forward and ruck - Cox probably is just our best bet in that regard.

I know we’re nearly in silly season, (trades).
Please don’t use fake accounts or FB rumours as your source and post them here.
PS: For those that missed it, there’s a fake Tom Browne saying Aaron Naughton asked for a trade to us.

I would be open to trading Cameron - Cox is our best tap ruckman. One of the ingredients i like a ruckman to have is a bit of mongrel. Cameron lacks that.

How long until Steene is ready? Begg?

He’s a third tall, so don’t know where he fits in that role, with Johnson, reef, kreuger.

Unless it’s defence. Even then if it’s senior opportunities he wants, he won’t get them with us next year at least.

He was strong against us (besides goal kicking) so I’d be open to him on the cheap

In defence we have a need for depth.
