I don't know why everyone is panicking about Aish. As if he'd consent to being traded only 1 year in to a 3 year contract. He'd have to have hated his time here if that was the case...

Gubby is new so we don't know what he Thinks.

Though even then No One be Stupid to gwt rid of him

I understand everyone has different opinions of Mayne but just to reiterate - this was not a trade.

IMO he's a good addition to our club and is a best 22 player. We all know what we're going to get from him. No doubt he'll be a great influence on our pups too.

Welcome to Collingwood Chris!

It's cap space taken up though.

If it's 500k a season then it's far too much for such a limited player.

I'm not a fan of the Mayne deal at all - especially for the contract length and the money he's supposedly on.

We have no forward on our list at the moment that looks capable of kicking 30+ goals. Perhaps Fasolo and Elliot, but neither seem to be able to stay fit for long enough. Moore isn't ready.

I can't believe that it seems like we're going to head into 2017 with Moore and White as our number 1 and 2 forwards, with only Cox as a backup should one of them miss through injury or suspension.

We would want to be making a big play for one of the Gold Coast forwards next year...except we've just spent $500-600k a year that we could have used to pay them on a forward known more for his tackling than his goal kicking.

Seriously?

Based on the player's age, the contract length and the salary. An offer reportedly two million over four years for 27yo Mayne, deemed enough to activate Band 3 compensation, which is a pick in the 2nd round immediately after their original 2nd round pick (which currently sits with Gold Coast, as a result of a pick exchange last year).

Moore is a good chance for a plus 30 season IMO.

I'm a big believer that a lot of our problems earlier in the year stem from no pressure on opposition backlines rebounding. Hopefully Mayne can make us better in this area.

And a lot of that is structural. Bucks always plays with an extra mid, allowing the opposition to play one extra defender

Then don't believe everything that's written by media w***ers.

My guess with Mayne is that he is on a heavily front ended contract.

This allows us to meet TPP this year and next without overpaying youth, which can be dangerous in and of itself, and then frees up cap space for us in a year or two.

He's gonna wanna push 50 for us to have a decent year.

I would be happy for him to get through most of the season and kick at least 30 goals. If he kicks 50 we play finals.

Well it's confirmed that he's on 4 years - and given Freo received pick 23 as compensation, it's not unreasonable to think he's being paid 500k+, which is too much for a player like Mayne in my opinion.

The compo was largely based on length of contract and age of Mayne. He's not on 500k.

Treloar for 2 x Pick 7's
Vs
Mitchell for 1 x pick 14

In comparison Hawthorn have got Mitchell for an incredibly cheap deal.

* Edit - not potting the CFC. Think we paid top value but fair value for Treloar

If it makes you feel any better, we did get a 2nd round pick off GWS as well as Treloar.

The deal ended up Aisho and Treloar for Sam Weideman (pick 9), pick 7 2017 (currently) and pick 31 2017 (currently)

Deal still looks good to me. Treloar is a bonafide star. No debating it.

I'ld rather have him, Fasolo and Elliot all pushing 40. Cameo from White and a few others and we should be good.
