Has anyone done a team comparision, ie changes, and tactics we used against St. Kilda. Someone did one for the prelim against Geelong.
Anyone want to pick up the ball and run with it?

No Dal Santo meant the saints really struggled to get clearances. (although they still won more)

Pies were on top all day. No Travis Cloke meant they were smaller up forward, with at times Caff and Lockyer playing out of the goal square. The pies spread the St Kilda Defense really well and didn't allow many 2 on 1s. The ball movement was very sharp.

Heath Shaw was the wild card on the day. He moved up onto the wing, providing run and dash and two very handy goals.

Between them; Reiwoldt, Milne and Koschitzke only had 15 marks (8 were Reiwoldt’s) and only 3 goals.

The Pies had 23 more tackles (77-54).

Fisher was the best for the saints, while the on ball brigade of Swan, Pendlebury and Ball were excellent. Leigh Brown and Caff proved handy targets up forward.

Game was cool if not overcast. Again the heat may be a worry this week as it was in the draw.

Saints were loading up on their training so were flat in their running.

Pies were definite underdogs going in, with many saying that the Pies had basically no chance at matching the two top teams in the comp.

Winning this game gave the Pies belief...but it also made the Saints wary.

Riewoldt was in his 2nd game back, but seemed to move OK. Presti held him OK and I think his lack of goals was more a reflection of the system. He will still get 5 shots on goal this week, so let's hope his radar is still stuffed and he only gets 2 goals 3.

The game was similar to the first half in the draw, but the third quarter we kicked 4.0 to 1.6. Saints frittered away opportunities.

Fisher 18 marks, Gilbert 10. But their possessions coming forward were turned over often. We need more pressure on these kicks.

Lots of hitouts to Goddard/Hayes even in the previous match. Appears this is a legitimate Saints tactic they use most matches this 3rd man up. Again my advice is to tunnel them if they try it. Play for keeps Pies.

28 touches to Goddard, 29 to Hayes. Nothing surprising about that.

Collingwood kicked 15.7 from the field. This is the sort of accuracy needed to do a similar job.
