I think Harley and Hewett end up interchangeably in that role. Probably no room for Zurhaar in the best 22, particularly if we plan on playing 3 talls. Cripps has another 2 years then Long, Ryan and Brockman need to be squeezed in and I can see Maric and Waterman getting games too. Even Culley might end up in the role and chopping out in the midfield. Nice to have competition for spots.
Harley could play anywhere really. Waterman is fringe/good depth. Maric is interesting, Gov is getting older and I suspect he may get a good look behind the ball in future years.

My point was that he adds a different dynamic and something we don't really have (maybe apart from Yeo).
That's some real mongrel and grunt, he's pretty quick too.. I personally would play him on ball even more if we picked him up....He could go back too.

The best comparison for maric I've seen is Harry himmelberg.

Tall , rangey not big enough physically to be a KPP but has really good kicking skills that make him an asset on the field .
Gws have looked really good since himmelburg has gone back and used his attack kicking off the HBF .

He's a different player to these two though. I recon SPP would be a better comparison.
We could play him HFF with mid stints for grunt.

Big yes from me.

Oh....He'll want to come here too. 2024 Premiership baby!

Zuhaar can't kick and has shocking skills all around. The only reason he hasn't been delisted is he goes super hard at the contest and he's played for an all time great spud team. His body will probably break down before he hits 30.

Hard pass for me.

Agreed the Dons have played the system beautifully. Adding best 22 players and not giving up draft capital. Why the Eagles need to be in the ears of players coming out at the end of 2025 already.

Make them question to resign or not so at least they are out of contract.

I think Flynn will be serviceable and not sure if I’m spending the money talked about on English if there are better options which I don’t think there are.

Maybe Chad Warner as a pre out of contract to put pressure on the Swans to trade him is the only needle mover. Even that would be costly for draft capital.

He's kicking can be scattergun, it does have great penetration. By hand, he's actually pretty clean too.
Just checked DE stats and funnily enough, him and SPP are right near each other (Zurhaar a bit better). Still a pretty apt comparison and always a role for that sort of player in the team for mine mate.

Few handy players in his grouping actually. Buddy went alright too;)
What I'm trying to say DE isn't the be all but you must be exceptional in other areas to offset.
Even in todays game, there is room for players like this. You have have too many but it's all about balance.

I would rather English signs a huge contract with bulldogs giving us a shot at busslinger. Then add sam Taylor as a free agent .

Word is Flynn was highly rated at GWS not just with his ruck work but an excellent kick .

I just don't see Taylor leaving GWS, is their next captain in waiting and will be given a great contract. Money does talk though. My highest priority target and the one I believe is most achievable is targeting the Buss. Out of contract with a 4 year deal and an early second round pick (probably with an exchange of 3rd's) is his real cost. The dogs are overloaded with talls and are likely to get another Croft as well.

If the rumours are true of bevo going to freo if longmire gets the boot this season busslinger could very well follow him.

They have the draft capital and salary cap space apparently.

If freo was to get both logan MacDonald and busslinger it they would have a ripper set of talls .

Fingers crossed we can convince the buss to come to us .

Or Logan mac

Hopefully Freo retain Longmuir after a half decent season.

Feel dirty posting that.

What's the appeal of following a badly fading coach to a second club?

When do we start talking about Dev again. I miss those chats

Freo have everything, we have nothing.

There.

The Fremantle hierarchy have quite a few ex bulldogs players involved.

Bevo has made 2 GFs and won one . He knows how to be successful.

It wouldn't be a bad decision to go after him IMO .

Could this be Tom's last season? Does not sound good at all. Definately gonna be shopping for tall backs shortly. This injury happened fairly late in 2023. For him to say this now, feels like he isn't sure or confident how his body is going to hold up this season.

You saying a player who hasn't even played a afl game is the coaches pet.
If Buss mainly plays reserves this year i think he would hardly follow bevo if he went to freo and still play reserves.

Im new to Instagram so not sure what the club did in previous years. Definately seems the social media team is ramping things up.

Just saw this morning a club post. Players 25 and under listed on a team sheet with a bench.

Question: Who will be in our next premiership team?

Can someone post it here. (Showing my age here;)

You sure it was the official WCE Insta account

I can’t find it

Yeah, tunneled by one Jack Reiwoldt. I remember that. It gives me another reason to hate on Reiwoldt.
Tunneling is a blight on the game. We lost Chesser for a year because of tunneling too. Someone will get paralyzed one day if
they don't stamp it out of the game.
Makes getting a tall key defender a priority now in the next draft.

At the risk of sounding like a certain Crows fan, that happened right in front of me and I couldn't believe he played the game out. It was nasty.

Don't sweat, the AFL is clamping down on smothering. Inept organisation!
