How about we let yeo go for peanuts, it would be doing the right thing by him so he can chase another flag and hopefully earn a lot while doing so, we aren’t in a position where we need to give huge contracts to ageing players who are injury prone. The compensation doesn’t even move the needle as Tim English fa move here will negate any. Since we are chasing English and lose yeo we probably need another mature body in the midfield and I think Chad Warner 2025 FA is something we can work towards but in the mean time maybe there’s a mature body we can get in the msd doing decently to replace (albeit not to his level) yeo, with the ultimate goal of replacing him with Warner
Warner is not a FA next year…

There is no world where we get anything from another club or FA compo that is even close to worth as much as Yeo is for the next 2-3 years.
When fit hes in the best handful of mids in the comp, you dont let that just walk for band 3 or 4 compo, even if it means you have to overpay him a bit.
Just sign him up, who cares if he misses a few games with a groin injury, unless we are still chasing English or a bunch of other free agents this year we surely cant be that hard up for salary cap space.

Give him a big pay next year, go the 1.3mil into 700k into 200k with bigger match payments in the last year. If he cant play in the 3rd year then so be it. Average 733k over 3 years

Well imo we are 40-60 to beat the Crows this weekend and should beat the Saints and North at home. Should get 2 wins there, maybe 3.
Crows with no Rankine and bring back Yeo will surely make it very close, Saints and North are just rubbish, and we play them both at Optus.

Bombers at Marvel and Hawks at home right after the bye, good chance to get at least 1 of those two as well.
My ladder prediction has us at 8 wins for the year anyway lol

'Overpay him'
'Who cares if he misses games'
'So be it if WC pay him 733k if he can't play the final year'???

Glad you're not the new list manager haha

I said 200k in the final year matey, thats the type of money draftees are on.

733k isnt a lot of money anymore. If we get 12-14 games per year out of him thatll be decent value, especially as he seems to be a great mentor to the young mids. He can always go to half back if he cant be a full time mid too

The only thing we can do to stop Yeo leaving is to pay him what he asks for

It’s up to the club to decide if meeting his demands is affordable within our overall list management strategy and what value they place on the intangible benefit of having him around our young midfield group

Too risky imo matey

...the hell do you mean by low offer was FURTHER reduced?! Who the hell are they currently paying over there to further reduce Yeo after what he's shown in the first part of this season?!
We are ****ing pulling a Jake Waterman/Rioli on him. This ****ing recruitment team. They are literally burning good loyal soliders to save a couple of 100k

Was hoping to keep Yeo as he seems really close with Reid. But we'd be crazy to match Adelaide's offer. Plus he might just land us band 2 compo (end of first round).
The McKay deal from last year is likely band 2 sort of stuff now with the bigger salary cap. He was 25 and on 800k, Yeo on 900k at 31 isnt going to get even close to band 2

I wouldn't exactly call Alec Waterman or Willie Rioli 'loyal soldiers'...

Whats the risk bud? We have to carry a top 5 mid in the comp to only play a handful of games as a mid for a couple of years while he is still a great mentor to the kids instead of just giving him away and getting next to nothing in return?

Overpaying an injury prone 30 year old is a risk imo bud

I think we can all agree that we want to keep Yeo, hopefully club and player can land on some middle ground that’s a fair contract for both parties. Also, it seems like Ruscoe still hasn’t received approval for nomination for the MSD which might be a spanner in the works if it remains the case. SANFL and WAFL had byes on the weekend but another good game by Ben Hopkins over at the Stingrays. 28 touches with 3 rebound 50s and 4 inside 50s spending a bit more time in the midfield. If we think Yeo is a chance of leaving then it might also bring mature bodied midfielders more strongly into the equation.

If Yeo continues to play this season with few injuries then a two year deal would be reasonable imo. Attach to that a trigger clause for games played for a third year. How much? Not sure. I think WC have mismanaged his injuries so I wouldn't be upset if he was payed really well for it.
