I’m torn. I’d rather take a punt on one of the top young prospects in the pool (even though it’s a shallow pool, we still get third crack at it), but I don’t want to lose Ruscoe from our WAFL side.

Even if we’d opened up a second list spot there’s no guarantee he’d last that long with clubs like Brisbane needing plug and play players. But taking him at pick 3 over a Hall or a Hutchinson seems like a waste.

So in conclusion, I’m torn.

Thanks Natalie

The fact that there’s no standout preference means there should be no melts later right?

Right????

Hi Squashface, welcome to the WCE board you must be new here

The 206 cm Sudanese ruck sounds intriging.

Feel we are one ruck short on the list given how often they are injured.

Could do worse IMO. He develops and stays or joins the ruck merry go round and helps with gaining a pick or player in the future.
One ruck short? We have an oversupply of rucks on our list at the moment. Twice as many players that can play rucks as players that can play outside mid.

Specialist rucks and dudes that ‘can play ruck’ are not the same thing when it comes to list management my guy
I mean we currently have Flynn, Barnett, BWilliams, Jamieson, Livingstone whose best position is ruck. On top of that JWilliams, Archer Reid who are ruck forwards. Do you genuinely think its a priority to add to that over our outside mid / rebounding defender stocks?

I don't want us to pick another ruck but we only have 2 actual rucks on the list currently in Flynn and Barnett.

The rest are forwards-cum-rucks.

BW - Forward as a junior
Livingstone - FF as a junior
JW - Listed as a ruck but also a forward as a junior
Reid - FF

Adding a mature ruck would actually be sound but I wouldn't be doing that in the MSD.

And who has been playing #1 ruck so far this year?

198cm Bailey who has battled honorably but isnt a ruck.

We have a lot of forward rucks. Not true #1 rucks over 200cm.

Not all make the cut, they get injured easily and one or two will likely move after getting poached or look to go home.

Half backs and wingers you can get with later picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. First rounders are mainly quality mids and quality talls with a couple of quality flankers thrown in.

Yes. Because Flynn still needs to prove he can stay on the park.

Kind of echoing my point though - Flynn & Barnett (developing, 2nd year) are our only true rucks. You could probably throw Coen Livingstone in as a 3rd option but keeping in mind even more of a speculative / development prospect as was a Cat B Rookie through our Naitanui Academy.

It’s definitely more thin for proper rucks than you think, and the very fact we’ve had to play forwards like BW (for ages) and JW in the ruck just solidifies that. We were particularly thin last year but gladly moved to get Flynn in
