Allies too good for WA. Nth Academy kids look pretty good they are doing a fine job up there developing players. Lombard best on. Uwland and Marshall very good and a number of others just in behind them.

For WA Urquart started well but faded late.
Kelly and Rodriguez tried hard all day as underage players in the midfield.

Will Hayes and Champion both had good moments for WA. Gerryn had some good moments too and may be flying slightly under the radar.

I thought our defence held up well lead by Dennis and Curtin.

Underager Koby Evens looks a tantalising prospect just so raw currently.

Hewett and Reid swapping forward mid is what Im very much kooking forward to.
Harley deep one out in the square allowing Waterman and Maric to lead up the wings or Hewett sitting higher up the ground on a HFF ready to charge onto the ball hitting the deck after a long kick to Oscar or Jake in the square will be biblical.

All while the other is tearing up the midfield.

I’m surprised by this boards obsession for Draper, I like him too and would be content to pick him IF we traded down, but he’s a pretty vanilla prospect compared to the other top end midfielders.

He doesn’t excel at anything, he’s just solid at everything, don’t think he’s particularly damaging, he’s not very quick, he’s not a goal scorer, he’s not a clearance / contested beast etc.

Personally think O’Sullivan, Moraes and Jagga are far better prospects.

I know our midfield lacks a lot and we can’t address it all with one player, but I feel like we’re missing an accumulator who’s a good ball user and damaging forward of the ball more than anything. Someone with outside / inside ability.

We have to start talking about Lombard as a legit top 5 pick if not a pick 1 contender. No player has been better performed this season than Leo, no player is more dangerous and damaging with ball in hand. He setup as more of an outside receiver in this game on the attacking side of the contest and consistently found space for linking chains, either setting up his teammates or finishing himself.

Great work mate and yeah I’m shocked I’ve seen him in the 8-13 range of most people’s rankings. Very clearly a top 3-5 talent.

Good news for everyone hoping of splitting.

Uwland will go high next year too. They will have a draft strategy for getting both Lombard and Uwland in whilst maximising there points. I doubt it will include West Coast.
GCS have a stack of academy talent next year, not just Uwland. We would simply tell GCS we’re bidding on Lombard at 3, would they like to trade it for 8 and 9. Might be very appealing to GCS, they may look at on trading 3 to Norf for their F1 and 2R, given how much talent GCS NGA have next year and allowing Norf to get Smillie and Trainor this year. Win for everyone if we’re splitting. Can also sweeten by overpaying for Ainsworth to get them a decent compo pick if we’re happy with him on talent.

Trade.for.a.winger.please

Jaxon Binns, Isaac Cummings, Harry Perryman, James Peatling, Ryan Angwin, James Tunstill, hell Greg Clark maybe

Gotta do something
Why on earth would we want binns, tunstill or angwin. Don’t need more list fillers.

Other guys would be good

Alex Davies once again not in the Suns team, out of contract at seasons end, averaging 20 disposals, a goal per game and 6 tackles in the VFL. He’s 193CM and fairly quick, very versatile too. Think there’s a lot to work with there, good potential buy low option.
If we went after him, what would we be promising him?

He will want inside mid time in the AFL, otherwise he may have better options.
We have Hewett to insert into the team, along with Culley who is pushing for a spot. If we split Yeo and Reids mid time into thirds for Hewett, then we really dont have anything to give him unless we take out Ginbey to another role, with Culley as depth.
Likely another high draft pick mid to add as well for next year.

I think Davies is the type of player we should be looking for, if he wasnt an inside mid.

I agree if he was just a cheap option who wasnt expecting to be playing regular footy.
If Yeo leaves though then definitely go for him lol
