Hell no. Waterman is a hard worker and a model trainer.

Ship off Allen before touching Waterman.

Waterman is what we are all about. Hard work. Improvement.

Just because Oscar has a longer reach then Waterman does not mean Oscar is better on the ground then snake, or better defensive then snake.

Talk about recency bias.

Jake has had one breakout season after a serious health scare. That scare forced him into being more professional with his diet and he was forced to give up alcohol.

He then lost heaps of weight and signed a reduced two year deal.

Before getting sick and his career nearly ending was he really a great trainer and model team mate? Not convinced about that.

Oscar is captain for a reason.

Jake and Barrass are not in the leadership group. For a reason.

Would bloody hate to see both Barrass and Waterman leave to play out their careers at another club.
A LOT.

But, we currently are in a rebuild and as it stands we don't really have a lot draft picks in our arsenal to A/ trade for players we need and B/ take to the draft.

So yep, interesting times ahead

Barrass is the vice captain

Absolutely extremely firmly 10000000% against trading Waterman especially given Barrass going is looking more likely

Having a preference is one thing, but seeing Allen as ''untouchable'' and Watermen as trade bait is mental.
Why is it mental?
Theyre different players who bring different things.

Allen has looked like a good player for some time now, Waterman was barely scraping by until this year.

It's mental to value them equally tbh

Right, but they're both key forwards and Waterman this season has surpassed anything we've seen from Oscar thus far.

They've both had 1 elite season, lets not pretend like Oscar has been putting up 40 goals a season.. he averages 0.3 more goals over their careers.

How many were uncontracted at this stage last that we ended up giving contracts to?

From the players that were set to expire:

we delisted Foley, O'Neill, Clark, West, Winder, SPS (6)

resigned Petch, Waterman, JWilliams, Culley, Witherden (5)

It’s not that we can’t delist them. It’s the fact we will struggle to effectively replace 8 or more players. We currently have two picks in the top 50.

We have picks 3, 23, and 59 prior to any trades (e.g. Barrass) or pick splits occurring.

Only 7 of the 12 listed are on the senior list, and you would expect HEdwards to be re-signed, so that leaves 6 open positions in the national draft, again prior to any incoming traded players.

This isn't as unrealistic as you think it is

We have Allen, Waterman, Williams and Reid. Trading out one won't kill us.

Agreed.

Plus Darling for another year.
Plus Livingston.
Plus Maric
Plus Hutchings

7 tall forwards for 3 spots not including Waterman.

With Lodgan McDonald a free agent in two years.

Georgiades will become available as well after Port poo the bed again.

briztoon What do you see as Brisbane doing with trading and draft points postulating?" And for the sake of this discussion, I would assume the points system stays the same for 2024 but NGA players can be matched by all clubs.

With the Lions recent surge and tipped to be top 2, that is likely to get your boys to another big dance meaning pick 17 or 18. This pick will drops back at least 1 if Battle goes as FA to Hawks and if English comes to us. In other words it is a pick around 20.

My reading is that the talent is very even around the 15 to 30 range, I cannot see a club coming that hard for your R1. In other words no massive premium. Your club's other picks are your R3 and Hawks R4. In terms of points, your current standing prior to push backs tally is to 1,388.

Assuming Levi is bid on at 1/2/3 and Marshall at low 20's, you are going to need to add at least 1,000 points to the kitty. In other words that would be your likely F1 (fair to assume the team will finish again high in 2025).

No obvious high value trade out options. Gardner, Tunstill and Dev individually would in all reality only get you something in the R3 or later.

Interested to hear you thoughts on this one.
