Schoey on AFL tonight

“West Coast have not come to the table and have identified Barrass as someone of high currency”

“I don’t expect him to be at West Coast next year”

Bit weird for the interim coach to be saying stuff like this...

Joking...

Pretty on par with his comments across his own media this week.

Schoey might not be at the club next year himself if he keeps using his buddy buddy contacts to openly discuss the club he's cashing cheques at

Happy to trade Barrass if the price is right on the assumption we re-sign Hedwards. Losing Hedwards as well would be problematic.

Happy to trade Waterman for massive overs. We can rookie Tyler Kietel as a mature age depth.

If we are optimistic on Archer Reid then trade Waterman.
We are happy with HEdwards clearly so Barrass looks gone.

One of Waterman and Allen can go, Waterman is on the shorter deal and seems more willing to move, let him go chase his payday.

If A.Reid isn't getting games or doesn't see a future at the club he may ask for a trade home next year, we dont want that to happen ideally.

We can get overs for Waterman and fix other parts of the side while still having KPFs ready to go.

The kids are getting older, they need game time otherwise we lose them, and we definitely won't get good value for kids that are seeking game time like we would for a good player

Anyone get the feeling if we trade Waterman it will be another Fraser Gehrig situation where the team that gets him gets a gun FF for half a decade.

edit* if the trade happens we must find our Kerr

The bottom line is that we have an over supply of kpfs but plenty of big holes elsewhere.

The idea of trading JW hurts though when he has just had a breakout year and become a gun.

So now we’re trading Barrass, Waterman, Ryan and Hedwards?

And Allen?
Honestly, I recon the club knows we need more high end picks and was willing for the wolves to circle for barrass and waterman knowing either of them would get us what we need.

If both go then we will have an absolute boon of first round picks, but I suspect they'll let one go and then renegotiate the others contract.

Barrass 2 firsts or we hold his contract.
Waterman high first or we hold his contract.

They will.

We must make sure we get a very good trade or walk away.

Agreed. Which makes it interesting with some of the managers trying to play chicken with us in the media for contracted players.

Yeo was OOC so the strategy was sound, but Barrass and Waterman are both contracted. Their management would want to be pretty certain a trade could be facilitated before any request.

Was about to ask about Peos and this morning.

It makes sense TBH.

Jake will want a 5 year $800k pa plus contract.

Does the club offer and pay that?

Probably would as he is 26/27 but we have so many tall forwards.

If we were super serious we let Barrass and Jake go and land a couple of firsts and a couple of 2nds. Spread across this year and next.

Tough calls yes. But the club needs to make some tough calls and avoiding them is what has got us in the hole we are in now.
I'd rather Allen traded then losing Jake.

And unless the Father Son is a dud; you do not let him leave
