So lets get back to 1 question people are forgetting also

Simmo says we are getting rid of 10 players. West Coast Eagles have 3 draft picks....

Where are the other 7 bodies coming from. Lets say we draft 4 new rookies (assume one would be Ruscoe?) as part of that 10 we still need to turn 3 dradt picks into 6 humans

Baker, Carroll, 3 picks and whose number 6?. Do we trade in 1 more player or do we find a way to get a 4th pick. The more Simmo and co say, the more a split pick worries me cos losing 10 players strikes me as a split pick coming up
Perhaps Darling goes a year early, or we see a few trades. 1st year rookies are hard to gauge but we could chop a couple as well.

MAIN
Gaff
Rotham
Jones
L. Edwards

ROOKIE
Trew
Culley
Baker

STILL IN CONTRACT
Jamieson

We need Carlton to miss or lose the GF.

They get desperate and chase Gov.

Jack Carrol plus their 1st for Gov and our future 2026 2nd rounder. We pay a lump of Govs 2025 salary helping the cap squeeze at the Blues.

Blues 1st gets chewed up by father son bids anyway.

watched a phantom draft yesterday. The Blues pick landed Travaglia.

Retain Barrass , up his salary by another $150k pa to market rates and add a 4th year trigger.

I feel like Rotham could be used better.

Looking at his early career stats he was getting high teens/twenty touches even a couple of goals.

Was he playing further up the ground ? is it a result of our current woes?

All these guys have gone into their shells and playing it safe.

Reckon he has value.

Hopefully we get offers before we're gonna delist

Rotham was used higher up the ground, he even played as a ruck forward and actually did really well

then Simmo shoehorned him into his current position and kept dropping him

We talking like we’ve got zero chance of a priority pick too.
If we continue the way we are going we will be in line (at least on precedent) for north’s first round of compo. This would be a 2025 second and third rounder which had to be traded?
Probably gets baker and knowing the afl they might manufacture it that way.

Yeah iirc his best ever game was as a ruck forward where he kicked a couple of goals - then he got injured in that game and by the time he returned he was back in the usual role, never to be seen again in the ruck/fwd one.

Only reason you'd use pic77 is a rookie elevation for maric to the senior side

The rotham free agent talk is bizarre, he's a guarantee delisting with no interest from rival clubs his manager is just working over time

You dont actually use a pick. You just lose it because the main list spot is taken up by elevating a rookie onto it pre draft.

And as others have posted we used pick 77 to draft father son Alex Waterman.

If we are lucky we use it on Champion as an academy bid we can match. More likely pick 59 though in this draft.

Here is a perfect example of a post that sounds like itk but an actual opinion.z

It is your evaluation based on your biases and view that someone must have said above to keep him. Because you can’t comprehend alternatives. at all times you must have a resolution to a question or issue, even if you have to completely make it up, to you it’s better than not knowing.

The problem is the blues have not one but 2 camporeli twins to bid on. And next year they have another FS who will go highish, forgot who? The afl will change the rules on FS bids - take it to the bank. If it happens this year that trade won't happen. Even if it happens next year, they will still need enough points for 2 draft selections in the late first round this year and need to gear up for next year.

100%.

The articles are starting to come out again just historically how bad we are. 8 wins 51 losses.

We dont win another game we are looking at a 2nd spoon as North would have beaten us in Tassie and will only be one more win to equal our 3.

At a minimum we should get something just to compensate our 2nd pick being diluted from 19 to 30 because other teams get priority access bids and FA compo.

All depends what the changes are doesnt it.

Their 1st could be pick 18. Maybe we put up this years 2nd to avoid getting diluted out to pick 30 again and also do some other future pick swaps. Two years of future picks to play with there.

Camporelie looking like a late 1st, paid for with an early 2nd.

The second FS is around a mid to late 2nd rounder paid for with a late 2nd early 3rd.

Does everyone really believe we will end up with the spoon??

Paying about $11 atm so bloody good odds if you wanted to cash in.

It will be interesting what happens with Dom Sheed at end of year Believe will offer him for trade if anyone wants him.

Also expect a big clean out if Simpson is sacked

Jack Darling to be paid out his contract for next year and taken of the list

3rd or 4th rounder.

Lions may be interested as they picked 3 half backs in the MSD due to being so weak in defense.

Crows previously interested.

Tigers defense looks inexperienced.

Saints if they lose Battle.

Rotham wont cost a club anything but cap space.
We picked a medium forward, a defensive small forward and a halfback. We’re actually loaded for half backs, and likely delist 2 at the end of the season.

What we’re short on, are reserve and developing tall defenders, because we have 2 out with acl’s.

I know, the club knows and Dom knows his foot is ****ed and is never getting better. I just don't see even if he wanted to get elsewhere and a club wanted him how he passes the medical.

Sorry Obeanie1, this is incorrect.

Rookie elevations are done after the National draft, and some clubs definitely use later picks for points and matching bids, then pass on them when the pick comes back around (after it was relegated to the end of the draft), because that pick is now earmarked for a rookie elevation.

This has come in since the covid list cuts, and the resultant shorter drafts, and clubs needing to use the later picks for points.

Sorry to intrude and I haven't read the rest of this convo but we have the Campo twins this year - Ben (Likely late first/early 2nd) and Lucas (Likely late 2nd-rookie). Cody Walker is the highly rated FS you speak of but he's 2026.

Personally don't think we'll be trading out of the 1st round this year, reckon we may try to bundle our pick up to get a pick before the bid on Ben. Travaglia and Berry two big favourites on our board, some speed and kicking skills are still something we lack a lot of on the list.

Look at the ladder predictor.

Just lost Flynn so back to Bailey carrying the ruck.

Lose one of Yeo, Reid or Kelly and we are again seriously undermanned in the centre.

Lose one of Gov or TB and we leak another 3 to 5 goals.

North have winnable games ahead and seem to be improving. We seem to be crawling to the finish line.
