The last draft that went into the 70s was 2018 when everyone had longer lists
The point the other posters were making us, your 5th and 6th round picks, etc will come in significantly.

As teams finalise their list predraft, they then inform how many picks they are taking to the draft, corresponding to their open list spots. They then lose their late picks they won’t be using.

Teams using late picks then see those picks move to the back of the draft.

West Coast might take 6 picks to the draft, with the last 3 picks all being in the 60’s.

As teams use up picks to match bids, those picks in the 60’s could move up in to the 50’s.

Thanks for Brizplaining that.
It was the exact point I made in the original post that they were responding to

Delistings/Retirements and Trades :

2019 (6)
• Masten, McInnes, Mutimer, Allan, Smith(R), Brooksby(R)
• Riach and Bines were both delisted as Cat B rookies
• Ah Chee and Brayshaw were delisted but redrafted as rookies

2020 (8)
• Schofield, Watson, Jetta, Brayshaw(R), Reid(R), Treacy(R), O’Neill(R)
• Traded - Hickey
• Venables was delisted but redrafted as a rookie. Hutchings was also moved to the rookie list

2021 (9)
• Brander, Vardy, Ainsworth, Johnson, Cameron, Venables(R), Hutchings(R), Ah Chee(R), Collins(R)

2022 (6)
• Sheppard, Kennedy, Redden, Nelson, Langdon
• Traded - Rioli
• Dixon, Joyce, Naish and Strnadica were added as SSP signings and delisted within 2022
• Trew(R) and Winder were delisted but redrafted as rookies

2023 (9)
• Hurn, Shuey, Naitanui, Foley, Petrevski-Seton, O’Neill, Clark, West(R), Winder(R)

Haven’t delisted/retired 10 players in a single year over the last 5 years so despite what Simpson said I think it’s unlikely we’ll do so this year either

Only two players (Hickey and Rioli) traded out since 2019

Sorry to intrude and I haven't read the rest of this convo but we have the Campo twins this year - Ben (Likely late first/early 2nd) and Lucas (Likely late 2nd-rookie). Cody Walker is the highly rated FS you speak of but he's 2026.

Personally don't think we'll be trading out of the 1st round this year, reckon we may try to bundle our pick up to get a pick before the bid on Ben. Travaglia and Berry two big favourites on our board, some speed and kicking skills are still something we lack a lot of on the list.
I think it’s unlikely you’ll have the points for the twins and also be able to trade up for another high pick with a willing club. Depending on what that blight on the game Laura Kane decides, you’ll almost certainly need to trade down for points without trading your F1 which you may well need to trade into 2026 to secure Cody Walker.

Berry (and Kako) would be a good fit at the feet of Curnow annd McKay but keep your filthy hands off Travaglia.

There are a few 8-9 combos of sorts, with some redrafted as rookies- code for nothing else available. I don't see any of our list up for trade - well none of value or must keep, but perhaps a few have been told already to prepare for the afterlife. You could speculate that this could result in some disquiet.

Averaged 7.6 in that time, so 10 is unlikely to be massively out either. Pretty amazing we've turned over almost an entire playing list on that time and still stink.

Why would they need to trade a 2025 1st into 2026?

They have a 2026 1st and 2nd to pay for a 1st round bid for that year.

Does everyone really believe we will end up with the spoon??

Paying about $11 atm so bloody good odds if you wanted to cash in.
I don’t think so, but finishing 16/17 is still shit.

And if we are going to be shit I rather take every advantage from it. 18th and going agressive at the trade table with a real threat of PSD to force unders.

Well could our clash with North in tassie be the battle for the spoon?

May just come down to percentage who finishes last. :$

Bit out of context… Way too early but Cody Walker is projecting as a top 3 chance and assuming ladder positions stay the same and Laura re-jigs the points as expected then pick 17 and 35 is not going to go close to covering a top 3 pick and they will need to trade into that draft.

Maybe. Maybe not.

The changes are to stop a pick 3 being paid for by junk picks over 40.

A 1st and a 2nd round pick is at least paying with valuable picks not the junk picks that landed Daicos..

Yeah it could be.

Norf do have Swans and Carlton next, which may take a hit to their %

We have Carlton and Geelong to finish the year so possibly the same for us.

I highly doubt we get anything from the vAFL and don’t see significant value difference between pick 1-3 this year, so would rather we don’t flame out the rest of the year

Low possession count but high impact, Bo Allen touched up our WAFL team today.

Could definitely do worse than him if we split.

Chuck him and Yeo down back as our HBFs with some CBAs.
