I love this. People keep coming back at me with bullshit but I’m the one who prolongs arguments, apparently.

O’Keefe tried to move to Hawthorn in 2008, the trade didn’t happen, he couldn’t go in the ND, Hawthorn as reigning premiers had the last pick in the PSD so he stayed at Sydney: https://www.afl.com.au/news/472300/okeefe-trade-hits-impasse

The rule allowing players in that position to go into the ND came in the following year, Ball used it to move to Collingwood.

I assume I won’t get an apology. I’ll happily own up to being wrong about that if it happens, stubborn and smug and deluded as I am.
Huh? You stated “Not since Nick Stevens and Brady Rawlings” but O’Keefe’s attempt came later didn’t it? So you’re still wrong. Why would you get an apology? I feel those goal posts attempting to be shifted again…

Oh FFS you don’t quit.

I said “ Not since Nick Stevens and Jade Rawlings in the mid-2000s, before players could go into the ND.”

Look at the bolded bit. It’s the bit you’ve been ignoring while bolding everything else.

I don’t even want an apology. Just **** off already.

Yeah it’s not like for like with Barrass and Baker is it? 2nd round for baker at most hopefully.

Galls me to hear Geelong will probably only pay pick 15 for Bailey Smith who is a far superior player to Baker. Yet there’s a narrative that we should be paying more for Baker.

Two out of contract players of completely different ilk and the media looking more favourably at Geelong, as always. Pack of shunts

I want to take the pick(s) we get for Barrass to the draft.

$700 thousand with incentives should be more than enough to pay for waterman off the back of one seasons form… garbage list management

Waterman is worth every cent... Right age... Probably the hardest working forward in the league... Can beat the gorilla backs with strength... And great set shot and on a lead....

We are lucky he actually came on and realised his potential

So we’re getting 13 and something for Barrass - likely to be a future pick/picks or swaps thereof

Will give us 3,13 and 23 as the genuine value in our draft hand

Assuming Baker is worth pick 23, which is fair value, would people prefer 3 and 13 to go into the draft with or 3,21 and 23 if the rumoured Baker trade eventuates

I get that some people don’t want Baker and would rather 3,13,23 as is but it seems the club thinks different

Don’t forget the option of maybe 6,13,23 and Baker.

Or we Take 30 instead of the rumoured F1 and F2 swap with Hawks?

3,13,30 and Baker

I think 3 and 13 need to be kept and used to draft young talent.

If we had to trade for Baker or anyone else of suitable talent it should second round or future second round picks

Jake Waterman after completing a 2 year contract and showing exceptional form gets offered a 5 year deal, who would have thought.

Except he's in the first year of a 2 year contract that just got extended and his last contract was a 3 year deal..

The only 2 year contract he's ever had(and completed) was his initial draft contract.

I miss the dump thread.

Unfortunately too many zingers and quality jokes got lost in the dump thread :sadv1:

If it was used properly to hide repeat offender Fivey arguing with people on the regular and making them look silly, it'd be fine.

Calling your posts zingers is a stretch

3, 13, Baker (23) is a very successful return (assuming we’re also getting Hawks F1 for TB and F2 because of course we are).

As you pointed out earlier, 21/23 could get pushed a surprising distance with matches. Quality over quantity even if it is a deep draft and hypothetically 13 is more or less the same as the early 20s, those picks could well end up in the late 20s.

Personally I’d be stoked to bring Baker and Garcia to the club, even more so Warner.
Would be great to keep as many high draft picks as possible too.
We need to fix our midfield ASAP, the forward line is good, back needs work, but it’s in the middle we are getting smashed, and a couple of experienced mids are definitely going to help.

Realistically there will be 6 additional picks before our 2R (pick 23), pushing it out to pick 29.

Rough guide would be:

1-Ashcroft
6-Lombard
11-Kako
20-Marshall
22-Perryman Band 2 FA compo
*8 or 21-Battle Band 1 or 2 FA compo

Pick 13 is hugely valuable and will get the last player left in what I’d consider to be the top bracket of draftees.

Yes, he completed his initial draft contract in 2019.

Hasn't 'completed' any other 2 year contract, like you said.
Here’s a quote, which states he agrees to terms on a 2 year deal. Just stop will ya.
If Garcia does come over on a 2 year deal you’re gonna look even more stupid.

The West reports Waterman on Saturday declined the Eagles’ offer and looked to begin discussions with clubs including Fremantle, Essendon, Hawthorn and Adelaide over his AFL future.

His management had reportedly been told the Saturday offer was the last he would receive.

But on Sunday afternoon he agreed to terms on a two-year deal, with a trigger for a third, on around $400,000 a season plus incentives

I can’t take the credit for that.

That's why the club is so F***ed at the moment.

I get that people want picks but baker is hardly a poor player. Depends what the deal is.

Yes, club should “ask the crowd” every time it needs to make a decision.
