Boxshall tested very well, great late pick IMO.

Wait, I’m confused here. Are we ok with F1 and F2 for Barrass so long as we give nothing else? Didn’t Hawks get F1 and F2 for Pick 14. The same Pick 14 they offered to us on its own for Barrass?

Goodness me I hope we stand our ground here for 2 x F1’s and maybe with an F3 going back.
Now they offer f1+f2 and want f3 back

Has to be 2 f1 maybe f4 back at best

Must fix this mess

Must trade Hawk F1, Hawk F2 and 23* to Richmond for 10 and 11

Would leave us with 10,11,12 plus Champion. Massive to have 3 selections in a row

In Summary would be

Out: 3, 26, Barrass and Darling
In: 10, 11, 12, Baker, Graham and Owies

Hopefully thats in play when Don says its odd in isolation as the above is actually ok

Contacting on instagram etc not ideal for Liam to cop though .
Passionate supporters , you embrace the new players though regardless .
Stuff ups happen , Hawthorn made it very difficult .
100% for sure - thrilled to have Baker on the list, every club in the league would have him in the B22. Could we have paid a few picks less (PSD talk was rubbish and never going to happen)? Probably, but it's about the mark, we didn't pay massive overs.

Totally fine if you don't like the trade package as a whole, but baker didn't make the trade. Any grievance is with the club not Bakes

That trade gets worse.

Dev talk on here for another 12 months for him just to go somewhere else.

I mean, Ralph isn't being accurate. We have future picks we could trade if we really wanted to secure Dev.

Plus whatever we get out of the Hawks in this deal - not suggesting either of the (hopefully) F1's we get, but it might make us more comfortable relinquishing a F3 for Dev for example.

Why on earth would Richmond do that?

Do they also harbour some kind of misguided loyalty to Clarke? So it’s a mutual thing?

Funny way of showing it so far.

Surely there is no way Richmond accepts this

With all this talk of top picks being required for success, I took a look at our 2018 premiership team (+ NN, Shep & Gaff)

Hurn - pick 13
Barrass - pick 43
Schofield - pick 50
Cole - pick 36
Gov - pick 44 rookie draft
Jetta - pick 14 (swans)
Redden - pick 25 (lions)
Yeo - Pick 30 (lions)
Masten - pick 3
Hutch - pick 20 rookie draft
Darling - pick 27
Lecras - pick 37
Rioli - pick 52
JK - pick 4 (carlton)
Cripps - pick 24
Lycett - pick 29
Shuey - pick 18
Sheed - pick 11
Ryan - pick 26
Dungan - pick 11
Venables - pick 13
Vardy - pick 42 (geelong)
NN - pick 2
Shep - pick 6
Gaff - pick 3

I count 11 first rounders (5 top 10), of which 6 are stars (NN, JK, Shuey, Shep, Gaff, Hurn) 7 second rounders. 7 late picks (3rd round and beyond).

We currently have 7 first rounders (2x top 10), 8 second rounders. Remainder of squad taken at later picks.

We're not massively far off the right balance IMO. We have pick 12 this year, potentially 2-3 first rounders next year depending on the TB trade (including a top 10), pick 26. We have some exciting later picks in Long, Maric, Hutchinson, Bazzo, Hedwards, JWilliams.

Hedwrads would want some sort of Waterman like turnaround.

Exactly.

Dev isn't exactly valued highly, despite what the Lions pretend.

F3 or F4 and it's sorted, Sheesh. Throw it to them and move on.

I’m not potting you guys, but Richmond have more and better mid aged depth than you guys, to see them through their rebuild.

They’re going to lose Lynch and Prestia, and will need to draft some tall forwards, who will take 5 years to develop, but they will have a higher floor than WC in two years and a higher ceiling after this draft.

WC will lose McGovern, Sheed and Yeo soon, and won’t have the same number of high end draftees in to the club as Richmond will.
Potting or not, it's not a great time to be delivering what you consider to be bad news to us at the moment.

Especially from a rival supporter.

You really need to read the room.

Lions sounds like they want to get points. F3 for a pick in the 40s maybe like the Dees and Crows did yesterday

Why give them anything for Robertson? Wait 12 months and pick him up for free via PSD. Have some f***ing gumption and some patience. We don't need Dev Robertson in 2025. We arguably don't really need him at all. Another list clogger. But if we are going to take him let it be for free in 12 months time. He isn't going to get a game at Brisbane unless they get a flood of injuries. He will still be looking to leave in a years time.

Yeo, Reid, Kelly, Ginbey and Duggan played last year. Two of them look like HBFs, not mids. Hewett couldn’t walk, Baker and Graham played for Richmond. Quite the gotcha.

I was clearly talking about 2024. If I were talking about 2025, Zane Trew’s name wouldn’t have come up because I’m not much of a WAFL guy.

I don’t follow the draft. I read two articles and a few posts the week of and wait to see them on the field. You'll note that this isn’t draft week, it's actually trade week and I'm here to discuss trades. Quite the gotcha.

lol at never lost a draft. I’ve never said that. Our drafting has been broadly terrible, with a few nice mid/late hits eg Hough and JWill (and hopefully Long). Pointing out that Pick 14 is an unthinkable price for Baker, but people then spend all year bagging our mid teen picks for being shit isn’t saying we won the draft. Quite the gotcha.

I have no issue with people who articulate their issues with their club, or who skew critical but act reasonably. The perma-mad, always on the lash out, seemingly get zero joy from footy but make it our problem every week types? Yeah, they're huge melters.

Sorry again that your man got delisted by a club with no midfield depth and no concern that a single coach could actually find a role for him.

If you were talking about 2024 it would be odd to say he couldn't get a game since he was getting games. He was delisted because we bought in a heap of depth [which I'm fine with btw] so 2025 was the right midfield to talk about in this context, as that's the one he won't be playing in.

Anyway just for the record shitting all over the guy just because you think we're mates or something is piss poor. I was barely aware he was on the list until he got a call up, thought people were being a bit harsh on him so took an interest and pumped the guy up a bit because why not. Unlike you, I haven't mentioned him since the season ended. I had a feeling he was going to be delisted because right around that time I saw him down the local pie shop and I figured that was not a good sign.

I'm currently hoping Luke Edwards is retained so if you want to pay out on a different young player who doesn't deserve it he'd be your target, we can leave Zane Trew now in peace I think.

Dev situation sounds like Lions are just wanting more than is reasonable for us to pay, which aligns with some of the things we heard at the start of the trade period. They don't really have any pressing reason to trade him for peanuts. Seems like the kind of thing that could suddenly be back on if Barrass goes through early but who knows.

Dev is contracted and they're happy to keep him. We aren't getting him cheap. Thankfully we're not falling over ourselves to pay too much.
But briztoon promised that we'll get him for next to nothing... 😿
Been saying that the last 2 seasons, apparently for even less this year.
