With contracts meaning less and less these days, I thought a first and second round pick was about the right value for Barrass. To get an additional rd4>rd3 pick upgrade is nice.

I have no issue with Clarke managing contracts and money but he should never be a part of negotiations.

Wouldn’t it be a really important part of managing contracts to be able to negotiate?

Sounds like clarke was the one that buckled and coughed up pick 3.

I would understand pyke publicly backing the decision but i would flipping hope privately he would have given clarke a dressing down...for downgrading 3 but also publicly stating bakers worth as a mid 1st round pick.

Pyke would have signed off the trade so he's just as much at fault. Really this was a disaster trade period for us, following it closely it seemed like amateur hour and Phil's comments back that up.

Maybe we shouldnt have gone into this critical period with this much inexperience. Surely we knew this and done extra planning to cater for the unknowns.. it's not like we didnt know what deals needed to get done.

Pyke promised to build through the draft and not sell the farm. He let us down on both.

From a position of strength with draft picks and being on the right side of the players' contract status, we lost so much value.

Pick 3 to Pick 12 and suite of picks in a heavily compromised 2025 draft plus some older players.

Simply unacceptable.

This isn't a knock WCE_phil but what did you actually do?

To be fair, Smith is actually worth 17.

It's Baker that is the clear outlier in that one. Should've been 26.

It all depends on the list profile.

For us that'd be a total disaster. We have no talent.

For Hawk's, who already seem to have a shitload of young core players developing together, along with their recent Moneyball topups it's a non issue.

Battle for also zero draft picks is another thing to offset what they gave up for Barrass. They'll be fine.

Paul Connor’s seemed to be less than impressed with how the barass deal went down but anyway hopefully we can make some pick swaps and cull a few more deadwood not sign them ie Rotham, Culley, witho. And get a couple of smart delisted free agents like Jason prior to improve our list
