Clarke was ready to fold and Hawks were ready to walk. (He was sent out before negotiations got back underway)

Bit of shenanigans but we got the hawks to come up twice. I have no issue with Clarke managing contracts and money but he should never be a part of negotiations. Apologies it's not the 2 firsts for Barrass and our future second.

Will see if we can't bring some of that currency forward before I sign off in a few weeks.

Was there any talk of hedging the draft picks??

So, presuming the Hawks hold form and finish top 4.

There could be 5 top FS or academy kids through before the Hawks 1st pick.

Looks like we traded out our 2nd best defender for approximately 20, 44, 62 minus our 4th rounder.

It's really not that bad when you look at it like this - just spewing we don't have a top 10 pick anymore, we paid more for Baker than Bailey Smith, and get overs for Barrass. What could have been.

On the flipside - could be a masterstroke if Hawks fall in shit heap and drop to bottom 6

Also lost Darling, plus the pick we got for Darling, and some other 60s pick got downgraded.

Richmond surely have to spread this haul out over 2 years or that's just going to be a nightmare in 3 years when they all want new deals. Imo they'll go after Norths 2 using 11 and 18 and if that fails, we might have a chance of dealing with them for 11 using Hawks f1 + f2.

Having picks 11 and 12 this year and keeping hold of our f1 would kind of balance this out for me. We got overs for Barrass and I was never opposed to splitting 3 for the right deal. I could live with getting pick 11 off them at that price. Also happy to just take 12 and 26 and Champion this year and keep options open next year.

The Barrass trade in isolation is fine. Some people just wanted overs to make up for yesterdays clusterF. Gives us a good hand next year, shame about this year.
The fact the players speculated to go in the top few in the draft aren't considered much better than the next dozen or so makes me think this isn't the super draft it's made out to be. lot of depth not many stand out talents. That's what I'm going to tell myself to get to sleep tonight anyway.

This time last year Collingwood were favourites for the flag

How’d that work out for them?

It’s a very tight competition, Hawthorn finish 9th and we have 10,28,46 plus our own picks

That said there’s a strong chance we trade some of those future picks to get an additional pick this year
