What do you think GC will get from Adelaide for Lukosius and would there be a trade scenario involving WC?

Potential scenario
Adelaide give pick 4 and get Lukosius and WC pick 23
Adelaide go to the draft with picks 23 & 25

GC give pick 6 & Adelaide pick 4 and get picks WC 3 & F3 (F2 at worst-case)
GC use pick 13 & 20 & WC F3 on Rioli and Noble

WC give picks 3, 23 & F3~F2 and get picks 4 & 6
WC go to the draft with pick 4, 6 & 12 and use F2~F3 on trade for one of Baker or Perryman etc
(Assumes Hawks give picks 12 & F1st)

The trade values line up😀.
Values Lukosius at pick 13
Get in front of any Lombard bid
Leaves WC with earlier picks but nothing before 59
Like all trades this complicated it just hurts my head, and has no chance of actually happening.

When will delisting's be announced surely they have worked it all out from the exit meetings last week.

Of the non-finals sides the only clubs to have announced delistings are Collingwood (1 player), Essendon, Melbourne and St Kilda.

Nothing from Adelaide, Freo, Gold Coast, North, Richmond or us.

Crows won't trade 4 for Jukosius.

Future 1st more likely.

They will be hoping for Draper at pick 4.

What's the chances Bo Allen becomes a full time mid? He's definitely not first choice for the barrass pick ,especially if he's projecting as a hbf

Bo Allen is projecting the same as ginbey .
HBF who is big bodied and very athletically gifted who was thrown into the middle in the U18 championships and bullied the smaller kids .

Didn't have high production in the middle same as ginbey.

He will be a good football player just don't know if it translates to playing midfield at afl level .

Unless it's a no brainer delisting clubs need to wait to see who may be interested in coming in as a trade or FA. Who may ask for a trade. How many live picks they want to use.

No good sacking 6 players only to find out we then need to pick up a DFA we didn't plan to.

Sure, but like getting an early present on Christmas Eve, maybe they could cut a player or two for the more blood-thirsty among us.

Yeah I just don't think we can take a chance with 'midfield potential '
Would love more hard nuts in the team tho do if he slid maybe

why is everyone so keen to ship off pick 3?
It’s one way of getting an extra decent pick in a draft with decent depth would be the reasoning

That said, if we slid back from pick 3 you’d like to go no further back than 6 or 7 as the first half dozen or so are quite even before a drop off to the next group. At least that’s the impression I get from what’s being said

Remains to be seen which clubs end up holding picks 4 to 7 and what might be offered to move up

Personally think we should hold onto it, especially if Hawthorn lose on Friday and we get pick 12 for Barrass

Future first + 46 with pick 20 going back for Lukosius imo.
I would have thought Norf would be in there with an offer. They could afford to offer their F1 (likely to be much better that Crows) and get 20 or 26 back.

Bold bid but why not explore

Tigers
Out Rioli with salary paid for 2 years
In pick 2
Rationale: They will have massive salary saving with Rioli Bolton and Baker off books. Get to go for the midfield pairin gat 1 and 2 they really want.

Norf
Out 2 + F2
In Lukosius + 6 + 20 or 25
Rationale: They can still get Trainor at 6 and get forward to support Larkin. Can also get quality at 20 r 25 compared to their 2025 F2

Suns
Out Lukosius + 6 + 20
In Rioli with salary paid for 2 years + F2 (say early 20's)
Big win for the Suns on salary cap with Lukosius completely off books and Tigers paying Rioli for 2 years.
Good pick for next year NA prospects

I reckon Davis will slide further than a lot on this board think

Good call as IMO it’s insanely difficult to know how this years draft will flow and many of the cohort will go latter than the group think has them and there will be some absolute bolters.

I think Davis will only come off the board once the second tier group of talls has been tapped into.

I don’t rate this years talls cohort that highly- I best elaborate what I mean by that- There are IMO no dead set standout talls of the Walters / Amiss / Tilthorpe standard.
But there are plenty of worthy second string taller players.
Players like Trainer who are just not quite tall enough to be genuine KPP as I rate Trainer as a third tall and not a KPD.
Quite a few around the 193 - 196 range but very few at the 200 cm range ( Except Whitlock x 2) that will command a first round pick.
Armstrong being the first genuine KPP taken and he is only 195.

The depth and value in this years draft is in the 186- 192 height range players that have versatility and a good ground ball games, plus are competent in the air.
And those half a dozen that have good foot skills on top of that, will be highly sought after early in the draft.

Davis has a similar valued skill set to quite a few others in the cohort, none of which are identical to each other, rather they have a slightly different mix of skills.

Who and just when they are taken will most probably be significantly influenced by what Clubs have already traded in AND picked up with earlier picks in the draft.

His type tend to be picked up as a third need of a Club, so if they have prioritised a tall and the board is rapidly running out of talls, he could get passed over because all things being equal - you always take your talls first.

The beauty of this draft is that there should be a good spread of player types,
whereas in some previous drafts, some positional groups get a run on earlier than their talent actually warrants it.

Always an interesting watch point, in any draft, just when the run in ruckmen and second / third string KPP’s kicks in.

The other point of difference in this years cohort is that there really isn’t any standout and at this point of time any of six players could feasibly go pick 1.

So team needs and how a players skill set compliments the rest of a prospective Clubs list and positional group, I suspect will determine just how the first dozen picks come off the board.

In a few years time I suspect that we will look back on this draft and scratch our heads and ask, how the hell players a b and c made it to the third round.

This is the most topsy/ tervy draft cohort that I can remember.
I feel it will be an entertaining watch.

Thought I'd have a crack at top 40 draftees for this year, definitely hardiest year so far to split them.

Someone like Tauru at 26 could end up being a star.

Guys that were unlucky to miss out on top 40, but still really like. In no particular order, just couldn't find a spot for them.

Hugh Boxshall
Xavier Ivisic
Malakai Champion
Cody Angove
Ned Bowman
James Barrat
Jack Ough
Lucas Camporeale
Phoenix Hargrave
Tyler Welsh
Rhys Unwin
Will Hayes
Zac Johnson

I suspect somebody already pointed these out but kako is academy and FOS a country boy.

It's interesting how even the top bunch is. I'd have Langford top 5. And FOS is rated by some as number 1.

That's why I'd be keen on splitting if we could shuffle down a few spots and gain another top 15/20 pick.

Should be a fun trade period. Still so many things to happen.

  • Barrass trade.
  • Will Darling take one for the team and himself and walk to Norf?
  • Baker trade
  • WTAF is going on with Dev? Cough up a 6th rounder and bring that moron home to play round 1. Sheesh, easiest pitch ever.
  • Jack Graham thing.
  • Flan Rahn... Plz someone take him
  • Rotham... That is all.

We also have to pull a coach out of our ass at some point too.

Reminds me a bit of 2022 when we split pick 2, partly because the top prospects were Victorian and rumoured flight risks.

Are any of the top prospects this year in that category?
That has never made sense. Have to back in retention.

Plus less risk this year regardless as Draper is likely to be sitting right there and exactly what we need.
