Dev Roberston

Was in Brisbane's Top 5 for the finals series (their combined 3 games) for mine.

Given another preseason and further development and where Brisbane are at I cannot see them tossing Dev aside easily.

I just can't see where he would be made available unless we paid significant overs.

We made the right call & didn't miss out on anyone of note by dropping 6 to 11.

Overall trade was 6+44 for 11+31+49.
Us getting 31 allowed the Yeo trade to go ahead (we traded 28 to Brisbane). Decent outcome I'd say.

Cripps was a reach at the time, and good on Carlton for making the pick. He was never on our radar.

Sure was.

In fact, many believed that was what swayed Melbourne to take him over Naitanui.

Watts being a Melbourne private school toff was what swayed the Demons. They had concerns of a go home factor with Naitanui so they went the safe option.

David Mundy mentioned last night he’s mentioned he’s exploring options, surely we are in his ear for a coaching role or even development coaching role.Surely an upgrade on Nickoski & Brennan.
Blind Freddy can see the club is crying out for someone like him for a position like that

I believe Nickoski is highly rated within, and several players mentioned him after the 2018 GF as a huge influence.

I must've watched different games.

He was pretty good in the first final against Richmond I thought.

Against Melbourne he got towelled up when tagging Oliver and had to be moved.
Against Geelong he had 14 possessions at 41% disposal efficiency, which was the worst on the ground.

At best I think he's a run with player with poor skills.

"Significant overs".
I wouldn't give you a 3rd rounder.
I'd rather take a punt on a kid in the draft.

This is a player who couldn't get a regular game in front of Mitch Robinson who was cooked and Rhys Mathieson.

Dunkley to brissie, devs further back in the queue
But jeez he'd want to come cheap

He's fallen down the pecking order even further now so pick 38 probably gets it done if we want him. They'll be in a huge hole for next years draft no matter what they do. Dogs will want Lions first and something else for certain, perhaps a third for second swap so by the time they bid on Ashcroft and the other kid they will have a massive deficit for next year. We can also do them a favour and not nominate their boys if we have the chance.

Either way i'm sure Dev would at least take our phone call now.

So I'm warming more to bringing Swallow cheap.

If we delist Witherden and Nelson (hopefully), Swallow can play that role and pitch hit in the midfield.
Even is we pay him the same salary as Witho, we might be able to get a nice improved draft position like Freo did with Brodie last year.

Something like our 2023 3rd for Swallow + pick 25/34.

The brownlow voting just shows you how bad our team is at this point. Lowest number of votes ever, thank goodness this year s behind us. We will need to cull heavily & trade in some young guys. Lets hope the next 2 drafts are kid to west coast.

Makes for an interesting trade period

• Adelaide chasing Rankine
• Brisbane wanting Dunkley whilst simultaneously needing to accumulate enough points to match probably pick 1 and another pick possibly in the late teens
• Geelong after Bruhn
• Fremantle facing a mass walkout but wanting to keep Lobb whilst still putting together a deal for Jackson
• Richmond after half of GWS
• Melbourne replacing Jackson with Grundy
• Port resisting their natural instinct to be campaigners and provide a decent trade for Rioli

Plus plenty of other smaller trades

Imagine they will probably try offer this years (15) and next years first (15+) for dogs second rounder this year (29).

Could see them end up with 20 (Mc Stay Combo), 29 (Dogs), 33, 38 (Ours), 44. gives them 2955 points, would mean minor deficit to their second rounder next year.

Will be an exciting trade period for the first time in years.

Plus there are always the out of nowhere trades no one expects.

Swallow isn't leaving GC. They are about to have some real success for the first time and he's been there 10+ years now.

Not to mention with Amon topping Ports Brownlow count that Compo pick could end up being late first instead of second which would make things even more interesting.

Where the club is currently situated, I cannot see any point in drafting a slow 30 year old TBH.
