Has anyone ever not matched inside the top 30 aside from Sydney with Dunkley?

I know some teams have been relatively happy to let marginal guys go, but it seems pretty rare that they won’t match on a highly rated prospect.

Sydney only didn’t match because they promised him they would only match if a non-Victorian team bid on him.

I don't get why more clubs don't bid tactically, bids always seem to come later than where the player is ranked. The threat of bid not being matched is pretty minimal. I hope us or someone bids on Davey before Bombers' 2nd pick just so we can slide up one place.
Or is it an unspoken understanding that we wont bid on your guys and should we ever cash in on a father son, we'll get our dicks scratched?

Especially for a monty like Ashcroft. There’s literally no reason not to bid, all the positives are in favour of bidding. Your guy won’t have the pressure of being first, and you take some more draft capital off a team that is already stacked
