First time I have seen hall play and that raking left boot 🤌 chef kiss !

Running through the corridor and hitting 40m+ passes

Draftable alone just on that . Like Jeremy Sharpe with a contested game.

Phew ..........I am very glad that you qualified the highlighted bit...... in my the initial read that had me rather nervous.

I have a third round grade on Hall, that might become a late second, very early third rounder on draft night, depending on just how many NGA, Academy kids bids get matched & FS picks, flying off the board earlier.

My info is Johnson was positive from who he delt with at the club that if he lasted to our pick we would choose him .

We then down graded two picks with port and then didn't pick him .

Maybe Rohan O'Brien has the last say and chesser was his favourite special vic boy ?
Therein lies the problem. From all available evidence looking like a major recruiting blunder.

Johnson looking like a key midfield player, Chesser an injury prone role player at best.

Fremantle have whacked us on this one and we did it to ourselves. Sigh, and sad.
Our rebuild would be looking a lot better with amother genuine big bodied mid.

Lots to play out but at this stage I’m very much in the keep Reid camp!
The alternatives should we split simply aren’t appealing enough…
McKercher and Sanders are likely Tassie bound in time.
Watson looks a jet but he’s a short man child playing amongst kids.
Duursma is promising but more of an icing on the cake type player and we just need some damn cake first.
Curtin might be available later anyway. Our ruck stocks are actually looking pretty good so a high pick on Edwards feels unnecessary.
Moir is sliding rapidly… etc.

Sure, Reid for picks 4, 6 and likely something else sounds nice but who are we actually taking with those selections?
Quite frankly, Reid is the player we need most. A genuine game-changer who can can play all positions. Start him in backline next year and before too long he can transition into the midfield as our star player with Ginbey as the ideal support and Hewett as our third mid who will be immensely damaging with all the attention focussed on Reid.

Very poor so far the WA boys - nothing much to see there. Kelly has been ok, Clay Hall also, not much else. Sanders is the one, was great in his last game and is tearing up this game too.
Can't see any WA prospects worth splitting pick 1 for. Curtin or Edwards don't do it for me.
Even their coach agrees, said there is no real top end elite talent that will go top ten atm but a solid group of talent that will go in the teens, and beyond.

As you say lots to play out.

West Coast ( all Clubs ) won't even have their white boards stacked yet.
So before there is any genuine conversation happens internally, regarding potential pick swaps, it will not be till after the big board is stacked and pretty much set.

All the Reid talk is also premature as we know neither what what picks we hold or who, comes seasons end will be the consensus No 1.

North might implode again and we might snag a few more wins, then the conversation is centred around .... do we bid on Walters with pick 2.

Sure I get at the minute that Reid looks like first cab off the rank, but so did Wardlaw this time 12 months ago and he ended up going fourth, Cadman was seen as a mid first round pick and he ended up going with pick 1.

Absolutely.
I’ve liked O’Sullivan all year but don’t see him getting through to the second round even though some boards have him down in the second round at the moment.

Can think of a number of clubs that will be eyeing him off as a key defender.

Unfortunately I won’t get to see today’s game till later 👍🏻

SMH…..

What happened to us? If we are seriously shitting ourselves that Reid, or Mckercher might leave, and talking ourselves into only picking the local guy who is the 5-10th best kid.

Pick the best. We are the biggest club in the comp and this defeatist attitude is pissing me off.

As for splitting pick 1, which I think is the course of action due to how bad our list is, should only be considered if it’s x3 top 10 picks within nothing else going back the other way. Grow a set, hold firm at the trade table and back us in.

Chesser still has time, but he’s either a slow burn or he’s nothing.

Many poor recruiting decisions like this are a major contributing factor to the club’s current dismal state.
Trading down to pickup XON and Foley is another example. Neither player is really up to it.
Passing on Nick Martin and choosing Will Collins is another. The list could go on and on.
SPP and Venables is another.

Did Johnson ***s someone off when he was training with the club? Otherwise the decision is mind boggling.
Recruiters trying to be too smart or overthinking things, or Vic is best, and not going with what is staring them in the face
.
The Pieman is a Vic or based in Vic..
right?

The logic of people not wanting to draft Taswegians due to go home factor in 5 years but will take the Vic kid who will have the vultures circling in two years is...peak Bigfooty.

Difference is I expect the Tassie boys will feel obliged to return home and be the face of the new club.
Harley Reid on the other hand I feel will settle in nicely and enjoy being the star of the West. As a country boy the Perth lifestyle will surely hold a lot of appeal. Just need to find him a local hottie and teach him to surf and he’ll be hooked ;)
Even if he does head back to Vic, at least there’ll be a bidding war between ten clubs as opposed to a single team who the AFL will be desperate to ensure competitiveness for ASAP…

McKercher name keeps bobbing up.

He's a Tasmania player.... He's first on the radar for the new tassy team. He should be on our do not touch list unless he slide to pick 18

What did Geelong get for Gary Ablett again?
you sleep with the lights on - regardless we are talking 2028 at the very least - probably 2030.

A good plan would be to draft 5 more Sheeds and stay in the bottom f four a decade.
