The Pieman is a Vic or based in Vic..
right?
Recruiters trying to be too smart or overthinking things, or Vic is best, and not going with what is staring them in the face.

End of the day we have only so many picks. And Victoria cant be ignored as it produces the most players.

And if your the boss is based in Victoria. It would say something if we didnt pick a Vic at some point.

Difference is I expect the Tassie boys will feel obliged to return home and be the face of the new club.
Harley Reid on the other hand I feel will settle in nicely and enjoy being the star of the West. As a country boy the Perth lifestyle will surely hold a lot of appeal. Just need to find him a local hottie and teach him to surf and he’ll be hooked ;)
Even if he does head back to Vic, at least there’ll be a bidding war between ten clubs as opposed to a single team who the AFL will be desperate to ensure competitiveness for ASAP…

And with all the start up concessions they'll be getting, provides us the greatest opportunity to get maximum value. AFL will want them there which means we'll get thrown absolute overs to try and make it happen.

Simmos press conference of "we have a plan around the draft" concerned me alot though.

He said he wont reveal it etc which makes me think trading pick 1 is the go :(
I really hope we keep pick one (if we get it) and pick the highest rated player in the draft, just for once.

We may possibly finish in the bottom 6 next year and can get some good picks then too, or trade next year's first pick to get another high one this year.

Or do they leave at the same time we’ve established ourselves as a top four side and we receive end of first round compensation which ends up being pick 20 odd?
Obviously it could go either way but I feel it carries the same amount of risk as committing to Reid would.
Of course, it may simply come down to how Godfathery the offer for Reid ends up being. If Richmond and GWS remain in the lower rung and GWS end up offering picks 4, 6 and 7 (Himmelberg compo) and we have the potential to snag say McKercher, Watson and Curtin/Edwards then it starts to become very hard to ignore.

I`m in the Reid camp but the picks 4-6 & 7 jeepers that would be impossible to ignore ..

Reid is good, but 3 top 10 players is a better outcome any way you look at it.

I hate the vibe we are giving off like we are desperate to split picks again😒
2-> 9+14 was a stupid decision, one which we shouldn't repeat just because our whole list is ****ed.

1. What 'vibe'? It's the Vic media speculating.
2. Pick 2 for Ginbey/Hewett was a good decision.

who did you want with Pick 2?

Do have to wonder what it was about him that WCE didn’t like as he seemed a rather obvious pick for us in many ways

That said other clubs passed over him as well, including Sydney who preferred Sheldrick in what was something of a surprise selection that early

Still hopeful Chesser justifies his selection once he gets confidence in his body and regains touch after missing a lot of footy

I know Matthew & his family very well. Passionate Eagles supporters they were (well the dad was).
They were bewildered WC didn't select him - mind you other clubs including Sydney & St K promised they'd select him at their pick as well, so wasn't just WC passing him by.
The Subi u16 development coach (Mr Page) believed Matt to be the best junior he'd had go through in years & the most coachable to get to AFL level.
Personally I think this was a big miss by WC. Neil Erasmus lacks Matt's kicking skill and his vision. He is more of a get ball and slam it on boot type of kid. Great athlete but.

Seems an odd choice. A decent player but surely we could do better?

Given his intermittent selection, I was half thinking if Silvagni would ever leave Carlton given the family history and half trying to determine whether he could be a useful addition at WC.
Right age group, pretty good experience now, and could probably fill that 3rd fwd role. Only thing I'm querying is whether he's a big enough step up on Waterman given it'd likely have to be a 3 yr deal.

Going to be interesting to see how Reid goes against the guys his own age, see if he really is that far ahead of them or if it's just hype
He will tear it apart. If he wants to……
It’s good to see McKercher getting on everyone’s radar in here liked him all year.

Just a little thing no has mentioned Harely looked next level in his only game this year against McKercher even played at times on one another. Will be interesting if the gap has closed or not when they play State.

McKercher name keeps bobbing up.

He's a Tasmania player.... He's first on the radar for the new tassy team. He should be on our do not touch list unless he slide to pick 18

What did Geelong get for Gary Ablett again?
Not the way to draft.

Thats one way to draft poorly.

5 years in the system in Perth, I would be pretty confident he would want to stay.

Also the AFL isn’t going to be saying take any player you want. There will be contracts locked and he won’t be at FA stage by then either

Yep spot on.

He looks next level against same age

Both top 10

Mckercher lock for top 5 at moment

What a delicious midfield combination they would make.

Sanders and Big Mac.
