LoL I just said 19 as at throw away line.

No idea. Just thought that the Hawks would take 19 but doubt they'd entertain anything else we've got to offer.

He was pick 46 3 years ago and is out of contact. He'd be a very late token pick at absolute best

Who wins our centre clearances if not Petch?

Have to laugh watching lightly framed non-natural footballer Jack Petch attack the loose ball and the opposition in stoppages, whilst first round blue chip midfielder and Larke Medallist Dom Sheed hangs back and waits for the handball receive.

Yeah, I knew I messed up. Obviously meant median. But I was in bed by then, and couldn’t be @rsed to fix it up last night.

Sheed has turned into a real lazy prick and he seems to be living of the past glory of kicking that wonderful Premiership Goal.

He chooses when he goes and he only plays in spurts.

What he actually needs, is a good hard kick up the arse. Sadly and unfortunately the diminished list of players available has seen no chance of any meaningful statement being made to him from the match committee, hence he hasn’t had to worry about being dropped for lack of sustained effort.

I have got to say that I am very disappointed in him and his half arsed output…… polite version.

Of course that is assuming that the match committee has moved on from the whole credits in the bank philosophy.
Ironically enough the whole credits in the banks thing, that is the genesis of Clubs slow downward spiral of inconsistent effort and not playing games out and or the absence of four FULL quarters of football.

That was when the standards at the Club started slipping.

Mediocrity got rewarded with no consequences at the selection table and efforts not less that 100% were tolerated because in 2019 2020 we were winning more games than we lost.

Hard to wind things back when they incrementally degenerate game by game over a sustained period of time.

The apologists have never been comfortable acknowledging that this is were the rot started, staunchly defending the same old same old.

Now that we have neared rock bottom, it’s now become a stark reality that our effort is spasmodic and all opposition, yes even the other bottom placed clubs ( North & Hawks ) know that if they can get a sniff of a win against us, that we are able to be overrun.
The better to good sides just blitzkrieg us from the get go as we haven’t got the stones to go the distance with the required effort.
Let alone have the character to stop 5 goal plus run ons.

Lot of work needed to right this listing ship

Some strong and direct messaging to players once we have numbers available to replace the players that swing the lead, will be a key element into turning around our game day output.

Agree entirely. Hence in the past a lot of posters complained about Simpsons Pride, and Credits in the Bank, when we were still winning games. but usually the reply would be to point to our ladder positions under Simpson as proof that he and the MC clearly know what they’re doing.

Ironically Sheed was one who was actually sent back to the wafl to work on his effort game, unlike a few others, but he’s regressed so badly to become one of the flimsiest slack mids the comp has ever seen.

100%

Time for the club to get hard, drop him to the WAFL and play one of the emergencies, isn't going to change the outcome of a match. There might be some eyebrow raised around tanking, when enquired the response is simply: "Dom hasn't met the expectations of a senior player in this team, he knows what he needs to work on and we expect he'll be back in the team shortly when he's demonstrated that."

Would at least show the fans something is being done about setting standards. Right now Dom's setting a horrible example to our younger players who have shown some really positive intent the past few weeks.

Well put.

I'm not sure I've seen a 150 gamer play as passively as Sheed, can't imagine he'd be able to look Luke Shuey in the eye after his recent efforts, or maybe he can, and that is problem.

Thats the last year Simmo actually sent players back to the WAFL. He used to to do it with Schoey , Jetta, Masten, Wellingham , Redden ect.

If he is serious about pushing forward with the rebuild he has to drop Gaff and if Gaff cracks it then so what request a trade. Going by what i watched in the WAFL beagles he would be silly not to give Dewer a game from his performance where he tried his guts out and had a more than solid output. Id bet as a sub he would have more impact than what Gaff would be able to produce.

Ive been a big fan of Gaff for many years, but his role has diminished so quickly it's sad to see and its time he gets dropped.

I was just thinking maybe you guys need to get more picks because you guys are lacking in nearly every position on the ground so you can take pick one that’s a good option not a bad one. but this is a strong draft why not take advantage of it and take advantage of your high pick and get as many top and picks as possible and bring in as much new talent as possible Top end talent. I love West Coast and I would love to see them fly up the ladder and compete more so please don’t think I’m attacking you and don’t hyperventilate

Very different draft then last year, Any of Cadman, Sheezel, Wardlaw could of gone pick 1 and no one would of blinked a eyelid, this year it’s looking like Reid and Walter(will be picked by the suns) and then the rest. I wouldn’t take anything less then 3 first round draft picks , and if Barrass goes and we pick up pick 6 I wouldn’t bother trading pick 1

This summarises why I think Simmo needs to be sacked, unless he can change this culture ASAP. I've seen little evidence of it, so hopefully next year is his last.

Port having their captain in the SANFL for a sustained period has set the right tone at the club and they are playing hard and tough football.

I get that the guys who gave Simmo his flag are getting slipped straight back in the side this year but that is on the back of 5 years when we had healthy lists for at least 3 years.

Once a club loses match committee integrity, then the rot is likely to be set in and it has for us.

The problem is also exacerbated by the club rewarding players who took a haircut during Covid with extended contracts and for many that is for multiple years. Unless we are going to delist contracted players, I do not think anyone in their right mind would be happy with NicNat, Gaff and Hurn going again in 2024.

The club must be aware of their embarrassing list management decisions which is why Cripps and Guv's extensions which were completed before the Freo game and yet the club are not game enough to come out with their contract news.

As I have stated many times, this all starts with King Nissie I. He is now living his career in the rear vision mirror reflecting on past achievements. It is why he refuses to make Simpson accountable (cannot push it up to my reigning GF winning coach), he continues to reward The Pieman for putting together the 2018 list, he refuses to recruit a strong head of football, he refuses to accept FULL responsibility for the state of the list and the inoperable WAFL set up.

It is indeed a long and worrisome road we are on and the CEO must do the honourable thing. The club needs a circuit breaker.

A bit hard for the coach to change the player's attitude when the CEO has set the culture and values at the club and quite frankly, Trev stinks.

Just thought I'd mention North just confirmed Griffin Logue's done his ACL so I'd think that pretty much makes it certain they take Curtin at 2. Mckercher might be right up there on their board but if Mckay and Logue go they'd be insane to pass on him

I agree, if they get McKay to stay I could see them going Watson though, heard they are very high on him.

They might be more inclined to keep McKay now.

If Gaff has any capacity whatsoever to put his ego aside then he would admit to himself that he can't cut it anymore and make it known to the club he will accept a payout (so long as it is a full payout) and voluntarily retire at the end of the season. I don't expect him to take a less than 100% payout. Not many of us would. We are all human and you take what you can get while you can get it in this worlf when it comes to salary and wages. But admit reality to yourself about your own form, admit to yourself that the club has no choice but ask you to retire and make it easy for them and part with the club on good terms.

If the club doesn't move him on at the end of the year (whether he likes it or not) then we really are a weak sister.

I'm a really big fan of Curtin but you can't take all the good players in a draft.

Say we are able to do what it took to trade Barrass to the swans for their R1 (currently 4). I think it commits us to Ollie Murphy at 19 and ideally Hawks feel compelled to take Watson to cover for a scenario of losing Brockman. I'd be pretty stoked with the draft falling:

WCE1. Reid
GCS2. Walter (Matched)
NM3. Curtin
Haw4. Watson
WCE5. McKercher
WCE19. Murphy
WCE36. Goad
WCE38. Brockman

We go into next year with the following youth:
B: Bazzo 2024R2 Hough
HB: Ginbey Murphy Jones
C: McKercher Hewett Chesser
HF: Maric Allen 2024MSD
F: Brockman Free Agent Long
R: Billiams Reid 2024R1

I: Jamieson, Barnett, Burgiel, Jack Williams, Goad, Culley, Petrucelle

Add a second +200cm ruck on our list along with the best 1v1 KPD whilst adding two of the best potential midfield options in the draft. Losing Barrass ensures we likely have a high, if not 1 MSD draft pick next year to target best available FB or flank talent.

We roll onto 2024 with the aim of drafting the best midfielder available of Jagga, Smillie or Draper with our first whilst also securing the big ticket signing of Aaron Naughton as a Free Agent. We also have the potential possibility of one of Jamieson, Barnett or Jack Williams making it as a Key Position Player potentially filling the future FB role.

I'd love to find some way to offload a current player to secure currency for Delean for that flank role but feel it'd be difficult, would be fine offering up Duggan but don't think it's enough.

Alot of solid talent on the list at the point and can start trading draft picks for player requirements.

Why doesn’t anyone seem to consider Gaff playing WAFL next season? God knows they need all the help they can get and he’d probably be okay at that level for one year.

He's getting around 800k a year. We need to negotiate a pay out of some sort. Imagine paying that money for a Beagle.

TBH we do owe him that money. Likely played 2015-2018 at well below his $$$ rate and then got his big contract years affected by covid. Same as McGovern etc etc
It always looks bad paying for a player on the decline but that pay is for the previous body of work before that contract.
