Surely the only real concern for getting Curtin is if Sydney keep their first rounder?

I guess Melbourne would also be interested as either a replacement for May, or as a partner to Van Rooyen.

The broad 'assumption' is that Hawks go for Watson.

Who knows what North will do (well, you apparently do..).

If we end up with Sydney's first rounder, Freo finish above Sydney and North don't get pick 3 for McKay, you can pretty much put a Reid/Curtin combo in the bank, I reckon.
Hawks have gone Ward and McKenzie in past few drafts with their firsts.

Add Weddle, Macdonald, Butler and Hustwaite. None are true Key position, Weddle has ability to play 3rd tall.
Curtin would be right in their thinking...

I’ve had it put to me on very good authority from multiple people that I trust, that Curtin has essentially told interstate clubs that he doesn’t want to be drafted there.

McClure said Reid’s preference is to say in vic but they didn’t tell us not to draft him. He’s probably just spun it for clicks and if Harley is actually open to coming to west coast you gotta feel for him. Poor kids probably opened his phone to a whole bunch of bs all over social media, would be understandably pissed. Maybe all the vic media narrative for him to stay will actually backfire and he will want to prove them wrong now?

Even if they have pick 1?
I wonder about this.

A contested bull like Reid probably isn't exactly what the Roos need. A pure midfielder in McKercher might appeal to them more, because they already have good contested players + they picked up Wardlaw last year. What they need is a big accumulator with class, who can hit the scoreboard. Would also complement Sheezel.

Can definitely see the appeal for them and it might even be the smarter decision, long term.

I would say that Tom is weighing up the prospect.

On one hand, the next two years will be tough and not much fun. When we are next likely to be in the finals, he is likely to well gone. Having said that, he is a possible candidate to be captain and that brings added $ and he has extended family in Perth and young kids. i do not recall seeing him as a marketing face so doubt whether he will be missing and marketing $$ staying.

On the other hand, Sydney is a great place to live provided you don't have to commute to the CBD. Swans are a very good club and their window is open with a good young list that is ready to go. He would be able to sent a decent place on his salary - even at Sydney prices.

If he wants to go, we have Gov and HEdwards capable of filling the KPD roles for the next 2 years. Forget Rotham - he is not a KPD. Bazzo is looking like a future CHB playing on the second tall and we hear Jamieson is ready to transition and we can always look at Barnett as a KPD.

Besides, while Simpson has his defenders guarding grass, it is likely to be a s**t show down back until we get a new defensive structure.
In addition to the above, TB’s sister lives in Sydney as well.
