Geez English is a squib. How many times did he just stand under hoping that he doesn’t have to go for it? Lots!

Our Bailey knew it too. One throw up he just bee lined and ran and jumped straight at him and physically dominated English. He is a strange ruckman English. Very good at some things but not others.

Losing Reid stings, but if we're still able to draft one of McKercher or Curtin we'll come out of this draft alright.

We're lacking a genuine pig, a real accumulator who's good on the spread, so McKercher would be a great fit here. If the club is comfortable that he won't ask to be shipped back to Tassie in a few years I'd be all over him.

Curtin looks classy too, and we're definitely still looking for our next gen KPD. Oozes leadership, while drafting locally at the start of a rebuild is smart business imo.

McKercher highlights. His small but very quick. Has some serious wheels. Uses the ball very well. Reminds me of Butters from Port.

The only thing on him is no idea about his Tasmania influence. If we pick him would he seek a trade to the new Tasmania side in a few years.

Only 'pure' mid, outside of Sanders, in the top 10 I believe.

What are your thoughts on potentially losing pick 1? Is it the disaster a few WCE fans seem to think?

I've said plenty about Reid and his potential downsides in regards to being a full time mid. I really don't think the club loses much from a draft perspective. Who the club is likely to draft in the second round is likely still there. Really depends on McKercher's ankle injury and who WCE draft. I very much prefer McKercher over Curtin at this stage.

As far as i'm concerned Reid isn't even the most talented player in the pool (he is more talented than McKercher or Curtin). He does some really, really great things and those things he does he does really, really well. However there are a couple of red flags and i think Eastern Rangers and I are in agreement with pretty much all of them.

Talent only gets you so far.

Look if we take McKercher and he wants to go to Tassie in a couple of years then we trade aggressively.

I'm sure Tas will have some good picks we can grab.

Hopefully whoever we get loves the club and stays

Seen this sort of comment a few times on here, but if it works like the other expansion teams(GC/GWS) all we will get is compo pick from the afl as the new team can sign any player on any list contracted or not.

Not sure if he’s worth risk if he’s just gonna be a compo pick in a few years time.

Surely pick 2 has just as much value as last year?

Why not do the same?

pick 2 for eg. 8 and 12

Get 2 randoms for the price of 1

BC 8 and 12 becomes 12 and 16

North will get pick 2 compo for McKay
North will at least get to bid on sanders who is top 10
Gold coast have 2 academy kids in top 10

So it pushes out picks back

I was reluctant to trade pick 19 due to its 2nd night draft loading but now its pick 21 I'm all in on trading it for GC pick 4 .

If we have 2 and 4 I believe Curtin will slip to 4 .

Hawks at 3 have just drafted Granger barrass 2 years ago with a very high pick and they have macabe who is a first round F/S KPP this year .

Pick 2 McKercher
Pick 4 Curtin

Let’s revisit this

We didn’t give this enough attention at the time, McKercher is a genuine gun.

Earlier in the year I wasn’t THAT high on him as he did get a lot of cheap ball, but after watching him consistently I realised he’s not just the average accumulator, he can win his own footy, he’s very quick and his foot skills are great, plus he hits the scoreboard.

Reid just as likely to ditch us for a return to Melbourne in 2 years.

I'm fine with curtin
And if he is all the hype, he'll be worth a bomb. 3 first rounders. So whoever his manager has him lining up to 'nominate' better start banking picks. The end of 2025 will be the last draft before Tassie compromises it even further.
