Feels like a guy we wanted got passed over for Foley. Was it Valente??

Valente went the pick after

There were only 2 picks between O’Neill and Foley - Will Kelly to Collingwood as a F/S and Will Hamill to Adelaide

James Jordon was taken the pick after Valente

Aside from Foley who's a small defender, the rest of our expected cull will make us very light for mids/hff on the depth chart.

This is a good draft for talls apparently, but we've only lost/losing one this year (Naitanui), so I'd expect us to draft/trade in 1-2 talls max to avoid totally unbalancing our list.

Yeah I remember those days - not long after winning a flag there was a lot of rage at us picking the lesser Luke.

Turns out both didn't really cut it.

I can't even picture what Foley looks like.

Was always going to be delisted.
Was also an absolute nothing pick to begin with iirc. Can’t remember too many being happy with picking him up at the time. Although Valente was probably the consensus pick and he’s done just as little.

We did trade back from a pick that would’ve landed us Bobby Hill or Rowbottom to reach on O’Neill and get Williams though.

Could have ended up with Hill/Rowbottom and Williams without the trade. Hindsight is 20/20 of course but O’Neill and Foley were both nothing picks at the time and are delist fodder 4 years later which has surprised no one. Whilst Hill looks to be a key player in a potential premiership side and Rowbottom is a gun

Not even just as little - 0 AFL games and delisted.

This is why I'm so wary of splitting Pick 19. The pick used on Foley is exactly the type of "bonus" pick we'd get for downgrading.

If we do anything I hope it's to somehow move up the draft order (while keeping Pick 1), not move down.

A little bit surprised that Foley was the first domino but my thoughts are similar to most, he showed bits and pieces particularly in 2021 but generally speaking he wasn't good enough for long enough.

The folly of downgrading a pick for two later ones. It’s not always smart.

Quantity over quality not always the best policy. It has to be done judiciously.

I am happy at this stage with Hewett and Ginbey.

Though this year I am definitely on the Harley Reid train.

Didn’t do too well out of the 2018 draft, assuming XON is also going that’d leave just Williams (#35) and Edwards (RD) from that draft class.

Not great considering we ended up taking four players inside the top 40.

It wasn’t a great draft though, especially after pick 20

Some good picks up the top and Port picked the eyes out of it with Rozee and Butters but for the most part it’s pretty grim reading

I expect the delisting's to be slightly less. Maybe around 6. Meaning we have 9 list spots to fill.

ROB has stated publicly the club is intending to take 4 picks to the national draft.

That leaves us with 5 to fill. We realistically bring in 2 from other clubs - Robertson, Brockman, Ruck.

Leaves us with 3 to fill. 2 rookie spots.

Hold 1 pick over for Mid Season or Just before season.

That excludes NGA picks though

Culley will be promoted to the seniors too

Although conceding the height advantage to his opponent, ZZ came out on Top in his ruck battle against Coen Livingston, winning the hit outs and exerting more influence around the ground.

Would love him as a athletic cheap CHB has very good speed for a big guy
