I know.

As the "buyer" it's our job to talk him down rather than up.
lol i mean really its not us buying him, the team will sort that.
I think the Lions know what they have, and they know who is coming in next year, they may as well get anything for him
I believe he is also out of contract too?

Anyone that wants to split pick 1 start watching the Carlton/Melbourne game

Look at the powerful mids such as Petracca, Cripps, Oliver

Devils advocate, even if Melbourne do something crazy considering straight sets and offer what most consider the godfather offer three first rounders and two in the top 5.

4, 5 and 14

Reid - Isaac Heeney
Barring injuries that's probably the absolute floor for Reid (and Heeney was an AA last year, so still a good-to-excellent player outside of the high expectations and some consistency issues).
Likely Reid will be a fair bit better than that though.

The closest thing I can come up with to a godfather offer. Would Melbourne give up this much? Are they that into Reid?

Melbourne gain: Pick 1, pick 54
Melbourne lose: Pick 5, pick 14, future first, pick 24, Grundy, McVee

Gold Coast gain: Pick 14, pick 24, pick 30 (2575 points)
Gold Coast lose: Pick 4 (2034 points)

Sydney gain: Grundy
Sydney lose: Pick 30

West Coast gain: Pick 4, pick 5, future first (MEL), McVee
West Coast lose: Pick 1, pick 54

Feel like Melbourne are more likely to use pick 5 on an established tall fwd rather than trading away everything for Reid.

They will now be desperate to make something of this window given its 'only' got them one flag and 2 straight sets exits.

Richmond may consider letting Lynch go for 5 and he'll be happy to buy himself another premiership.

Imagine they’re at least sounding out gold coasts king. The issue will be salary cap related

Goes both ways. Dev appeals to us because he's genuinely the age we need and there's a legitimate argument that he has indeed played minimal minutes, and yes, out of position.

New environment, more responsibility and a decent contract could really go a long way to unlolcking his potential, the form he normally shows in the VFL.

Flip side of the coin is he stays at Brisbane, likely remains on the fringes of their best 22 and continues going backwards and we'll be sitting here thinking we've dodged a bullet.

Either way, it was well worth the likely throwaway pick we would've coughed up to get him over, and it's not great we've potentially missed that opportunity.

Hope Ralph is wrong.
Best analysis of the Dev situation yet.

None of those players were pick 1
Walsh was best on. Pick one.

Petracca should've been 1 if not for the saints stupidity.

Tell me where you see the next Cripps/Oliver 194 midfield potential type in this draft. Charlie Edwards might be him....hense Sydney's interest. Curtin maybe, hense our obsession.

I still wouldn't be trading Reid who is 185 cm bull capable of doing similar things.

Petracca would've been if st kilda weren't a rabble. Also irrelevant, it's those type of players that can consistently win you games, where they're picked is beside the point. Reid is that kind of player.
Still makes me laugh, saints could've and should've had Petrecca and Bont over McCartin and Billings. Lol

Not sure it's the key forward that was the issue. They have Smith, Van Rooyan and Schache as well on there list.

Their entries were so bad last night.

I reckon they would be keen on another gun midfielder.

Van rooyen was suspended, Schache is rubbish and Smith is nowhere near good enough to lead the forwardline of a finals team.
