Probably already posted, but would we be interested in this? 🤔
Maybe this is what it would take to get GC's pick 4.

Suns offering a first-rounder for a salary dump?

Yeah I wouldn't be giving up next year's first rounder under any circumstances.

Fair call. Will be worth a lot more this time next year unless of course we don’t finish last. But if McKercher/Curtin and O’Sullivan for example are going to be available I’d take it in a heartbeat.
Would probably prefer to just bolster our midfield next year.

I Like LEdwards but he's going to be pushing shit uphill to make it.

Get another top end mid in and that'd make our starting midfield all first-rounders in a couple of year's time, presuming Reid is drafted and Chesser makes the grade.

Even if we improve to say 15th we'd still get a top 5 pick and we'll need a fair few picks for our rebuild. And I don't think many are expecting us to do much better than around that mark...

Future 1st should hopefully be off the table unless some ridiculous offer comes in.

I think if LEdwards didn’t already have a contract for next year he would have been cleaned out too. Early signs are elite mids bat deep next year, definitely more options there than this year. I’m expecting big things from Chesser next year assuming he gets a good preseason in. Horrific injury. Would like to see Long rotate through in short bursts too. Reid a no brainer.

If we stay healthy we could well bounce back a bit higher than people are giving us credit for but yes, realistically anything better than bottom 4 would be considered a huge step forward.

No point talking about splitting, trading up or future picks

We will take 1, 19, 35 to the draft

Give Brisbane 38 for Roberton

Give Hawks 52 ans 57 for Brockman

Flynn PSD

Book mark this
What do you think the likelihood of Robertson landing with us is? You’re sounding a bit more definitive that we won’t be splitting pick 1!

Well Flynn is a FA so, no? lol
Hawks get one of those picks or Brockman goes PSD.
The other 50 pick goes for Robertson.
Will take 1, 19, 35, 38 and hopefully one of the 50s as well to the draft.

Picks 4 and 9 for our F1 is what I’d be wanting without giving up the rest of our draft picks bar 19 and even then I’m not that keen

If North don’t get pick 3 as FA compo then I don’t mind it because 4 gets us either McKercher or Curtin then 9 gets us O’Sullivan/Murphy or Wilson depending on who we took with 4

But I’d rather keep our F1

If the trade/draft turned out like this I’d be happy :

Flynn- sign as a FA. No picks required

Robertson- trade our F3 and F4 for Robertson and 55 (Brisbane will need the points in 2024 for Ashcroft)

Brockman- trade 52,55 and 57 for Brockman and 48 (Gives Hawthorn points 333 extra points to match a McCabe bid and consolidates 3 picks we don’t need into a higher pick)

Trade picks 38 and 48 to Gold Coast for pick 28 (only 90 points extra for GC but a promise not to bid on Walter could help)

That fills 3 of our 7 main list openings and gives us 1,19,28 and 33 to fill the last 4 via the draft

Pick 1 - Harley Reid (Duh)
Pick 19 - Hope there’s a slider or trade down to a pick in the low 20’s plus a late F2/early F3. Select best KPP available
Pick 28 - Luamon Lual
Pick 33 - Lance Collard

We end up with
• Balanced mid (Reid)
• Inside mid (Robertson)
• Rebounding defender (Lual)
• KPP (Zakostelsky)
• Mature ruck (Flynn)
• Pressure forward (Brockman)
• High half forward (Collard)

Good spread of positional needs - although people will have different/better alternatives at each pick

Ideally we also manage to improve our F3 to a late F2 whilst giving away our F4 (throwaway pick as highest possible is 55)

We would also have one selection (pick 1) in the rookie draft for which there’d be a number of options perhaps including Hine-Baston or Livingstone. Obviously there would be others

Edit : Zane Zakostelsky has appeal as a KPD that we could trade down from 19 for in exchange for a pick in the 20’s and a F2 for (Richmond with 25 and Essendon with 27 could be potential trade partners if they really like someone at 19)

Some highlights from Angus Hastie from the weekend.
If we wanted a rebounding defender with speed you'd be hard pressed to find a better prospect than Hastie with our mid range picks.
Kid has got some dash and is generally considered the best player at the Falcons this year.

If he played like that every week he'd be a first rounder.
Very quick and more importantly knows how to use it. Creative, and evasive too.
Kick looks very tidy.
How is he defensively?

Pace is impressive, as is his ability to weave through traffic, when he takes the game on.

However, kid needs to lower his eyes when passing to team mates up the ground, as he invariably sits his passes on their heads which makes it super easy for a defender to spoil, also his hand passes lack accuracy and often fall short.

If he can tidy his skills up he would be a handy player, if he cant he wont make it at the next level.

That would be Nathan Philactides Oakleigh Chargers - Vic Metro. ( early pick )

Joe Fonti Claremont ( late Pick ).

Not quite as dashing but one of my favourites for a smokie is Logan Evans Norwood - SA.

I think something like this is what it'll end up, not sure on the players drafted (only because i have no real idea about the draft) but overall draft picks we should be using and end up I reckon is how it will go

Absolute no need to be overpaying for Robertson and/or Brockman.

Looks good, Lual had some great moments in the champs when I saw him. ZZ I reckon won’t go in first 2 rounds to other clubs which if it’s the case I’d like to go something like this keeping in mind it’s hard to know who will be available at 19 this far out:

1-Reid
19-Hardeman/DeMattia/ Tholstrup/Schoenmaker
33- Freijah
38-Moir/Zakostelsky

Brockman/Dev: pick 52 to the first to accept gets it, other goes PSD/57
FA: Flynn

Looking a little further forward I think some good and perhaps homesick talent might be:

2024 Aaron Naughton, Busslinger, Liam Baker, Logan McDonald, English
2025 Sam Taylor, Chad Warner, Sheldrick, JVR, McVee

Could have a pretty good side ready for a crack at finals in 2026
