And there is the example of three bites at the cherry are better than one.

Id take those three over JHF every day of the week.

Had a thought. Dream actually.

We finish 17th again.

In Barett's sliding doors today he flags our last 4 poor seasons and how old and banged up we are. He said its a real problem for the club AND the AFL.

Solution in typical AFL fashion behind closed doors.

AFL penalises the Hawks over the racism scandal. (And tanking but use the racism scandal as a reason). Penalty is they lose their first rounder plus other sanctions, fines.

They discuss this with us and we agree to trade pick 2 which is now pick 1 to GWS for 3 1st rounders, they already hold 2 and they land Ried.

We get pick 4, 10 (Freo's) and a GWS F1st.

We trade GWS F1st to the Suns.for pick 8.

Head to the draft with picks 4, 8, 10, 20 and our later picks.

AFL gives the Hawks a slap for being dicks x 2. Tick.

GWS gets pick 1 and the headlines with a little help from the AFL. Tick.

Eagles get an injection of 3 top 10 picks this year and some quality youth to right the sinking ship. Still retain our 1st in 2024. Tick.

Ahhhhh. Now where is that that box of tissues?:thumbsu::rainbow::drunk:
A crazy multi-team trade deal from Obeanie, delicious. It’s been too long.

I suggest we just stop the dreaming about hawks losing pick 1 from the racism scandal. Its just pure hope and has not been mooted legitimately. It sounds more likely the charges will be dropped due to lack of evidence, last i heard.
Exactly, AFL has done a brilliant job to sweep this one under the carpet, that's assuming there was actually anything that bad to begin with. All we had was a bunch of hearsay from some obviously dysfunctional people who flaked out the moment they had to stick by the story. No-one is losing the number 1 draft pick over that.

Literally was just looking at photos of my mother in laws most recent shop house purchase and finishing touches and furnishings. In one of Vin Groups Phu Quoc developments.

That is her business. Buying property off the plan. Kitting it out, and then renting it out through an agency.

This one is in the new Venice inspired development on the north of the island.

And Vietnam is expected to change ownership laws by the end of the year, allowing foreign investment ownership of land and property.

Thats a nice picture and spot mate. I don't want to flood the thread here but when i get to it (likely tomorrow) I'll send you some pictures and links to some of my condo's, their developments and site plans.

There's a really nice parcel of land of 2.5 hectares about an hour and a half into the hills/mountains above cebu currently for sale for only 4 million pesos. Already has an old farm house on it, 300 mango trees and 100 coconut palms and talking the mrs into it. Her brother has always wanted to get into farming and it'll get him a slight income (I'll teach him a few things) and he can stay in the old house and we'll build a new one. (mostly myself bar electrics and plumbing).

Same as the offer to Farang83150 once i'm there full time if you're ever going to be in the area hit me up and i'll we'll share a bucket of san mig lights. Or if you're a psychopath you can drink red horse at the speed I drink san mig lights, just write an address on your card and i'll tip a Grab driver to take you home as you will be hammered.

Also currently looking at a wine bar / restaurant. Cebu already has one but it's average and i'm not sure I will ever be the type to just completely slow down. Have some good relationships with some of the wineries in the SW region (not just margaret river) and would love to be able to show case them as a destination and my italian recipes combined with a good wood fired pizza oven will do the trick (yet to find a decent Pizza in the Philippines)

Probably have to throw a touch of brown sugar into all my recipes as the Cebuanos and Filipinos in general like their food to be sweeter than most.

Ownership law changes are all that is holding me back from the next stage of development being in Vietnam. Who knows though I might just decide for someone who is supposed to be retiring that I have enough already. I manage the Condo's myself rather than using an agent.

Property is my mother in law’s gig. She bought a lot of land on Phu Quoc 20 years ago, before any of the development began.

Foreigners can own land and property as part of a corporation/consortium, but they are going to be changing the law to allow individual ownership by the end of the year.

There are a lot of Aussies and Yanks who live in Vung Tau, south of Saigon, French in Dalat and a real mix in the middle of Phu Quoc.

Draft Reid

Our younger players seem to be adapting to the game style well, Chesser for example was running to the right places (not often used). Some of the older seem to have a hard wired players doctrine. Hard to change and they fit in or depart. What scews this is that at time we revert to a slow posession game and individuals have success within the low risk safe environment. We have to avoid being misled by this aparrent success and move on or change these players, I think Simmo is onto it but time will tell. Drafting is a great apprach rather than teaching old dogs new tricks. The higher the quality the better.

Barich said on his podcast with Quartermain that we've got an offer of 5 Mil over 5 years to English. I was thinking it's overs but after tonights game he's clearly worth it.

Darcy is a star. Dominated gold Coast last week and got Freo over the line. English matched him in chest to chest hit outs and throw ins and had him beat around the ground. In the 2nd quarter he got on the end of a possession chain (which started when he was at the back of the square) and chipped it through from 35m out. It's elite running for his size and at Dean Cox's level.

That's my view anyway as a former CHF/Ruck. English has built his tank and is now a complete player. He's like Luke returning to Dagobah to catch up with Yoda in Return of the Jedi for skills work, only to get the nod.

He's done. Bring him home.

He’ll also be 27 by the time he is a free agent. Gun player, no doubt, but we are a long way off our rebuild and he is not going to have many productive seasons left in him by the time we are a premiership threat again.

Fair enough we will be offloading some big salaries in coming years, but I would hope it doesn’t mean losing a gun kid down the track because we have used up our salary cap on an ageing ruckman.

Dean Cox = Obi-Wan?

Wouldnt worry about our salary cap in 5 years. By that time we will probably only have Ocscar that is definitely worth big dollars. Ginbey maybe. Some others may come through but its not like we have 5 top 10 picks waiting to burst and will demand big money (like for eg Dees and Blues have/had). Bit sad really.

I'm more than happy to get English as FA. Getting players of that quality for no trade capital is a massive win, especially when the salary cap is fine (which it will be by that time).

Yeah given inflation and assuming he maintains this form, I wouldn’t be that against it. But I would hate if it meant guys like Long were more likely to be pried out by campaigners like Geelong offering better coin. All very hypothetical of course

It could work if we frontload the contract in the years where we won’t have many star players. Very keen on English and even Darcy as well who is also RFA at the same time. Would this be our first ever big FA if we pull it off?

I rate English, but at a million dollars a year? Pass

I am still extremely bullish on Barnett, i rate that kid and i thought that he was an extremely astute pick when we drafted him. As i have stated before, he reminds me a young Brodie Grundy; he can run all day, he has decent tap work, and can actually finish pretty well from a set shot for goal. He isn't your typical beanpole thin young ruckman either, kid has some decent strength and definitely isn't allergic to body contact

We just need to get him fit enough so he can demonstrate what he can do. And if he is even half as good as i think he is going to be, we are onto a winner

Getting him fit with our S&C team?
