Regarding Erasmus from the article:

"Think he starts as a half forward but becomes a big mid eventually. His kicking is average... Nothing elite. But he looks like he covers the ground well and he will become a massive unit when he fills out."

1) Another "maybe" mid?
2) Has anyone who was a average/poor kick when they arrived at the club, actually really improved their field kicking in recent memory with us? (I cant help of think of Ainsworth)
3) Elite runner, that seems to be a mandatory West Coast requirement :whitecheck:
4) "Will be a massive unit when he fills out".............would you really back our strength and conditioning team to turn this kid into a tank? We turn nobody into a tank. Our kids come to the club skinny, and stay skinny

I have seen this kid play, and he undoubtedly has talent, but i have reservations

Personally, if we have the option of choosing Johnson or Erasmus, i would be taking Johnson
He's not a 'maybe' mid, he's a genuine mid.

Averaged 28 touches (roughly half contested iirc) and 6.5 clearances a game in the Colts, all comfortably ahead of MJ.

There's no doubt that MJ is the superior kick. Erasmus does need to tighten up his kicking mechanics. It's too slow with too many moving parts imo, so is inconsistent.

I saw him play at Hale last year a fair bit, he's a big guy with particularly strong legs as that other dude mentioned. There's no way he's going to be skinny.

Everybody on here goes on about getting a 'big bodied mid'. That's what Erasmus is.

It's really only his kicking that worries me otherwise he's a standout prospect.
Agreed, the only other thing I haven't seen much of yet was him going in and getting the ball at stoppages. His clearances were more when the ball fell his way, where Johnson goes in to find it. So I think he's got a bit of work to do there, but a good midfield coach can easily help with that or watching/learning from Yeo will help immensely.

Or are others seeing a Gladstone Small look about Sheldrick.

Sort of the anti Tom Swift ............. what is it about Christchurch Grammar School boys and their weird necks........ Keys over to you.
I don't see a weird neck? I don't see a neck at all! Whoever drafts him will have to use a later pick on a neck for him 🤣🤣

I’m all in emotionally on Erasmus. Looking forward to to the pain of not getting him.

A potential nickname for Amiss could be 1.6
If i know this board like I think I know this board, then there is no doubt if we get him he will be called Aniss with at least 3 posters changing their avatar to Braydon's speedos shot with Amiss' head badly photo shopped onto it.

The difference between the Pies having to match a bid for pick 1 and pick 4 is the equivalent of an extra pick 24 or 25. Could clubs let Daicos slide to pick 4?

That's annoying lol

Not sure what JRs point is there. Also not sure why the comparison at pick 4. He can't be insinuating that Daicos is the 4th best prospect this year because it sounds as though he's rated higher than that.

Anyone with a draft pick before Pies ‘has’ to pick Daicos.

Pies are already committed, contracts or letters of intent already signed. It’s a no brainer really but………….

Methinks Norfs will pick JHF for ‘marketing and membership feel good’
Norf would be better off doing what Adelaide did last year and bid so JHF doesn't have that pressure of being the number 1 pick .

Agree, North will take Horne-Francis at #1 because it's good marketing for them.
Will be on newspaper front pages, paraded with sponsors, etc. They've already started talking him up, "best talent they've seen" kind of crap.

GWS will bid on Daicos at #2. Guaranteed.

Said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm glad we don't support a basketcase like Norf if the best they can offer supporters is "we're so shit we have pick one".

And yes, I am well aware we lost to them this year at home.

The other key difference I see is Football IQ. I think Johnson has Erasmus covered and by some margin. Just makes the right decisions time and again.
From the 1 minute snippets Ive seen from both players, I agree. Erasmus is amazing overhead but MJ is just silk and can find it. I can see the Pendles similarities, he just creates time and moves like liquid. Id be happy with either but MJ for me.
