Harry Edwards is listed as 200cm.
How much taller do you want him to be to keep up with taller forwards?

HEdwards is very much the prototype of current/future key defenders.

Harry is a plodder , a tall plodder better suited to manning up on the Ruckmen resting forward ..

Tad harsh on Harry, the ball is coming into our forward 50 at the moment way too easily. Very hard to be a defender at the moment.

I think Busslinger is a must Harry Edwards is not the answer to keep up with taller and faster forwards ..
Jedd Busslinger and Rhett Bazzo would make a great defensive spine for the next decade ..

Wouldn't be sad to see him in blue and gold by any stretch. Only problem I see is that he may fall somewhere in that 6-15 range so you either take him at 4 ahead of Hewett?

A real shame we couldn't get a deal for Shai Bolton across the line, from memory we have had two bites at the cherry. Exactly the player, and about the right age, that we are missing right now.

He's slow though, and a bit like a giraffe - doesn't have much agility to match up on the quicker, slicker types.

I thought we already had a whole heap of downhill skiers who don't tackle

We need to have Shai Bolton, Luke Jackson, Logan Mcdonald & Warner Bros on the list next year. Forget Contracts. You will see something special happen All Round, end of this season.
Oh boy, I know it’s a long time before draft night but it’s going to take something REALLY special to beat this puppy

Actually it will just happen naturally for all clubs.
I forsee a totally new AFL next season
Many interstate players all round returning to home states. I see a brand new draft system to reciprocate keeping the best local players at their local clubs.
I see Gold Coast Suns being merged with North Melbourne & relocated to Tasmania or something similar.

I’m absolutely 100 per cent sure you’re not the same bloke who was posting last year that there’d be a massive world event that would void all contracts. Then deleted his account after it didn’t happen.

Absolutely certain.

Brayden George from the article Cal Twomey did a few weeks back (Petracca as a bottom ager), kicked a lazy 6.2 on the weekend for Murray Bushrangers. I definitely picked the wrong week to watch the Bushrangers game.

Predicting this guy keeps rising and could end up around the top by season finish. He's very talented.

Retire
JK
Hurn
Shuey

Trade interstate players first on the list
Redden to S.A
Gaff to Vic
Cole to Vic
Next Darling & Waterman to who ever wants them. (JUST because its our time to make the moves)

Delist - Nelson
Probably others.

This is the year we make a Big Raid on WA Players abroad.

Sounds fun!

Keep us updated.

I thought Dylan Roberton retired?

+TBH I have always thought pick 1 is overrated and particularly in this draft as so far it's shown there are some real quality talls and only a few quality mids and not superstar level ready to play. More that next level down at this stage imo.

I can see GC finishing 3rd or fourth last. Assuming we finish last I can see gold coast trading up for that pick. I'd trade pick 1 for their first this year and first next year even if we have to include ports second this year. Pick 1 is always overvalued and I believe this is a very fair representation of value. It also gives them a strong hand to buy a second first round pick from Brisbane or similar.

I'd then look at trading GC first rounder next year to Sydney for 14 & 18. Sydney will still view gold coasts pick as worth 3-6 and 14+18 would very likely get across the line if Sydney wanted to move up even if it means throwing 37 back at them or some potential ruck prospect of ours..........

We'd go in with pick 4, 14,18,20 (first pick on day 2 which we may see good bids on)

Trade our future second for Deven Robertson and Brisbanes second rounder. Brisbane's second rounder for Bruhn.

Pick 4 - Hewett
Pick 14 - Broadbent
Pick 18 - Best available mid / highly skilled flanker.
Pick 20 - Best available mid / highly skilled flanker.

Potential A class mid
Future star ruck. Not as athletic as say a Grundy but will be a beast, is a great kick and great around the ground.
pick 18 fills a need
pick 20 fills a need.
Robertson
Bruhn

Again 5 potential players who could be in our next premiership push.

Delist
Joyce
Trew
West
Jamieson
Winder
Nelson
Kennedy (retire)
Hurn (retire)
Shep (retire)

Potentially tradeable players with value (only for future picks / pick upgrades)
Petch
Bailey Williams
Gaff

TBH if he's not traded i'd happily delist Bailey Williams and Keep Winder (as long as he shows consistent effort as the skill is there) or Nelson.

Retain the other 3 SSP pickups on the rookie list.

Nelson and Winder survive 1 more season as rookies if 2 of the above tradeable players move on. I'm making the assumption that list sizes will go back to 44 as well. PA will push for it. With no players traded out that gives us a list of 44. I'd be happy with that.

This makes the Assumption Shuey is relatively fine injury wise and the same with Redden. We still need some leadership in the midfield. 1 year extensions. Along with Kelly, Sheed, Naish, Clark, Edwards it's not an amazing midfield now but could be in a couple of years time.

2 Potentially ready made mids with further development ahead, a true Ruck who will be ready to be a top 5 in league ruck in 4 years, an A class midfield talent and 2 other top 20 picks.

With a first name like that, I'd say we should steer clear of this guy.

Love your work, if Broadbent slides a little during the year we could potentially land him at 16 otherwise I'm pretty stoked with a draft of:

Hewett, Bevan, Hagan (23 tackles in 3 rounds of colts), Bruhn, Roberton.

With the aim of securing Tholstrup next year.

Bazzo Barrass Witherden
Duggan Edwards Hough
Chesser Clark Hagan
Tholstrup Allen Bruhn
Winder JWill 2023 (2nd Round)
Ruck (FA) Roberton Hewett

Bevan, ?, ?

Is looking like something to work with in a few years time.

Jed Hagan will be available a lot later in the draft, any list manager picking him at pick 19 would be sacked on the spot

Best thing to happen for us if we’re going to finish last is for both Lemmey and J.Williams to have huge years so we’ll have clubs clambering over each other for our pick to get to Lemmey, while we don’t need him and grab a top rated mid plus whatever draft candy we can pull out of the deal.

He's slow though, and a bit like a giraffe - doesn't have much agility to match up on the quicker, slicker types.
My main concern is his timing when trying to spoil. It's about as bad as I've ever seen. In saying that, it seems like something you can coach, though it doesn't bode well for his ability to be a successor to McGovern & Barrass - two guys who read the play very well.
