Florenca with our second pick should be a lock.

We have to spend the first on the best young midfielder (<20) available around the country.
Id say we have the choice of taking a punt vs building a bit of squad depth making players earn their spot which is a better environment for development.
Best young midfielder is still rookie pick territory on a guy who wasn't good enough 6 months ago, could add nothing 50% of the time or become Nelson level 45% or 5% star Priddis/McGovern territory.
Florenca/West/Clark can come in and do well right now, 24/25 yrs old and you know what you're getting.

Id say right now with no obvious outstanding 19 yr olds a fist pick on Florenca adds $$$ to the list and a second pick which is a hail mary choice anyway can be used to take a punt. Thoughts?

Culley is regarded as a top 20 pick as it stands right now. Why on earth wouldn’t you grab that for nothing if we’re rebuilding? If he comes on he’ll be in his prime when we’re back contending.

Chances are Florenca will still be there for our 2nd pick and if he’s not we can take a Bailey Rogers or someone similar if we want some depth. Not the end of the world.

Alright, time for you gadget type operators to figure out what sort of margins we need next weekend to secure Culley an unknown half back flanker from the WAFL reserves with Pick 1 in the MSD.

My thoughts are that you might actually be Rohan O'Brien and I hope we get a new list manager soon because you've made terrible call after terrible call in this thread recently.

It will fluctuate around the 45 point mark - as in we can't have Norf lose by more than (roughly) 45 points than what we lose by.

That's terrific but we don't need someone to come in and do well right now. We need someone who is going be doing well in 5 years time when we are heading back to finals.

Depth will get us nowhere without A graders.

We need about 5 or 6 A-graders and 2 of them have to be top of the tree A+. So the only thing we should be doing is taking a punt on players who might turn into A or even A+ graders. If the professional recruiters are saying Culley may go top 20 in November's draft, we have to take him in the MSD. If Florenca is around with our second pick then we take him.

If we find some A-graders in the next couple of season we will have senior players (who are spudding it up now) step up. We will also find some of the players we draft are actually depth players. But the focus has to be in trying to identify and draft A and A+ graders.
