Not Warpol!!Key scout calls time
John Wardrop, a key member of the West Coast Eagles' football operations, has called time on his remarkable careerwww.westcoasteagles.com.au

You lost me at watermelon wineI don't care so much if he never plays another game of AFL football ever again, as long as he is OK and has no long term implications from that horrendous double head knock, first body then ground.
As an Old Fart I just want him to be able to experience the things that Old Farts cherish, like family, friends and long past flags and water mellon wine.
Cruel to have your dream snatched from you at such an early age.... and yet he lived and achieved the dream that every AFL player past and present has had , that being to one day walk up onto the raised stage at the MCG and receive a Premiership Medal.
All the best to the young tiro, he achieved so much, all be it he could have achieved so much more had fate not be as it was.

Everyone can cool their jets on Fiorini talk.
I heard it - was just a segment on Whately's show. In the trade chat with Sam Edmund, some random bloke emailed in saying "Fiorini for 32".
Edmond was like "havent heard that".
Then they moved on to some delusional email about Cripps joining Freo.
So it was nothing more than speculation you get all over Bigfooty. Was probably just a hopeful West Coast supporter. Definitely not worth thinking any further unless its actually reported somewhere.
He had me at watermelon wineYou lost me at watermelon wine
Wtf is watermelon wine anyway, I've never heard of it before but I hate watermelons and I hate wine so it just sounds terribleHe had me at watermelon wine
They still set aside $600-700k or so to be able to offer him a contract if he didn't accept ours. I doubt they spent all of that on recruiting Steven and Jenkins. He was on a low wage at Geelong. Wasn't there an article about them upping his wage at some point (and some spiel about trying to fit paid childcare outside of their soft cap)
Fiorini is a massive spud. Soft as butter doesn't like winning the hard ball and is a great stat padder. No thanks way better options than him.Ok, so the link with Fiorini seems more speculative at this point, which is unfortunate.
Can never be sure with Gold Coast under Dew, he has a habit of over-focussing upon the weaknesses of players rather than their strengths and freezing out good talent as a consequence - J.Lyons being the most obvious example.

Was at a sportsman night. Lecra was asked about alec waterman.
He said he caught up with the team yesterday and actually asked about him. Theres was some suggestion that alec may want to head back to Claremont for another season and isnt ready to be re drafted.

I played Claremont dev with pat. Last player I thought would make it to the AFL! Hard as nails though. We did it three times in four years from 07-10. Adam Hunter was another handed the early payout. Downside was that each time we had to fill out the list from the pre season draft, netting super mega stars Pat McGinnity, Ryan Neates, and Blayne Wilson. None of the players given the flick were happy about it either, so we ended up with grumpy ex players and a hack replacement taking up a senior list spot for two years (yes, I like to pretend that McGinnity only got two years...)
Was not our best strategy...
