The Age is not a left wing paper. It's owned by Channel Nein, the head of which is Peter Costello. When The Age writes this about a labour premier, he's in trouble:
"Dan Andrews' leadership is buckling under its own weight by Shaun Carney
Daniel Andrews insists he is not going anywhere. At yet another of his marathon media conferences on Tuesday he advised a reporter he would not cut and run, declaring, “I’m not someone who runs from difficult things or hard work.”
Just a recap. He has overseen the massive, deadly policy ****-up of the hotel quarantine program, although he would not use those descriptors. That tragic failure prompted a stubborn, resilient second wave of coronavirus infections that has led to extra months of lockdown, with still no clear path towards a reopening of Melbourne. His government lost its health minister Jenny Mikakos, who walked out in disgust at the Premier’s public attempt to put her in the frame for the quarantine mess. On Sunday night, he lost his department head Chris Eccles, who took a swipe at Andrews on the way out. Eccles insisted he had not made the fateful decision to hire private security firms for quarantine hotels.
Crisis is an overused word these days; in most cases, “problem” will do. But it is an apt characterisation for the condition of the Andrews government."
I agree it is not left wing but in my view it is (if only a little) to the left of centre - but putting all that to one side it certainly isn't Murdoch or SkyThe Age is not a left wing paper. It's owned by Channel Nein, the head of which is Peter Costello.
** Not commenting about Andrews' political future, just the commentary which you added at the top.
No, it's definitely more balanced than those RWNJ outlets.I agree it is not left wing but in my view it is (if only a little) to the left of centre - but putting all that to one side it certainly isn't Murdoch or Sky
In the last week (if figures are to be believed)... the US had another 315,716 people test positive...and 4,092 people died of COVID. ONE WEEK. There are three weeks until the US election. At this rate... there will be another 1 million cases of COVID or 9 million total, and over 232,000 deaths in the USA by the election. By the end of the year.... an additional 3.4 million cases (11.4million total), 45,000 deaths (260,00 total) .
Yes, I think the government would love to call an election now before the economic pain really kicks in, Denial Andrews would probably start favourite. But they can't, and things will be very different by the time the election does arrive. From a tweet by Alan Tudge:
"NSW has 13 new cases, 7 community. NSW close to normal. Announces 500 people at music events, more people at cafes.
Vic has 12 new cases. Vic is in lockdown. Businesses shut. 5km rule. 2hr outside home. Masks."
Professor Raina MacIntyre, head of the Biosecurity Research Program at the Kirby Institute, UNSW Medicine, my underlining: "It is true Victoria is under-resourced and has been for almost 20 years with successive governments on both sides stripping the health system bare. It had fewer people to throw at contact tracing. Such a minimalist system can get by during good times but will be exposed in a pandemic."
Imagine how bad the Vic Libs must be that there is no cut through
Boo hoo - just showing up his hypocrisyDo you ever post anything other than boring attempted trolling of Bicks? Every post of yours is a swipe at the liberals one way or the other. Even known labor diehards actually discuss the goings on.
Boo hoo - just showing up his hypocrisy
But its true - imagine how bad they are when the worst ongoing disaster in Victorian history where the Premier has shat the bed on numerous occasions has led to miniscule growth in popularity for the Libs
I do have a lot of interest. But at the moment its Dan memes and US figuresNo doubt, I’ve suggested the same to him at some point in the past. But surely you’ve got more interest in this thread than that. What’s amazing is that no Oz politics topic gets any traction in the politics thread. It’s all about US. I had to bring Gladys recent woes here and still got nothing.

I can't disagree with you, as much as I would like to. We have an appalling Premier who has made mistake after mistake after mistake including one of the most bizarrely unbelievable cover ups in Australian history, and yet the opposition can't seem to put a dent in his popularity, as the polls measure it. That has to say something about the Liberals.Boo hoo - just showing up his hypocrisy

Surely If your leader of Libs can't increase their popularity with Andrews government making one of the biggest stuff ups in history causing huge deaths, cost & inconvenience... it's time to put in another leader.I can't disagree with you, as much as I would like to. No need to panic! Sadly, it's just a matter of time before the economic damage becomes clearer. I reckon Denial will bail next year.Surely If your leader of Libs can't increase their popularity with Andrews government making one of the biggest stuff ups in history causing huge deaths, cost & inconvenience... it's time to put in another leader.

The US gets mentioned in the politics thread because we are 3 weeks from their election.
Corruption in politics - being happening for years and it will continue. Nothing to see.
