If it goes bad, then it will absolutely have an impact (its going to go bad).

In my job in WA I get to see the daily Sitrep reports on caronavirus. It is now infecting more people out of China than it is in China. If it starts spreading widely in Australian cities, which seems pretty inevitable, then it will impact crowds without doubt.

Genetic testing is now suggesting that caronavirus has been spreading within the US for as long as a month without anybody being aware. So this genie has well and truly escaped the bottle, and there is no putting it back.

Their healthcare system encourages citizens to avoid going to the doctor

Yeah probably. But the overall numbers say "what's the big deal"? The media frenzy will cause more harm than the actual virus. I refuse to get worked up because people over the age of 70 have a 1 in 12 chance of dying. Those odds would be pretty consistent overall with any flu season.

The overall numbers say people are dying. The only thing saying no biggie here would be your own mind because you’ve gauged the risk to yourself to be low.

The more the virus spreads, the more will die, and there are measures that can be taken to limit transmission. You don’t have to get “worked up” about anything, I’m not sure why you think there’s only these two options here though.

I’m not interested in the media frenzy. I only arrived in Australia two days ago and you guys just seem to be waking up to the threat as a public now. I’ve been dealing with this since January, stockpiling N95 masks for people I care about who are holed up in isolation and stranded in affected areas.

If you’re isolated how does a mask help?

Unless the mask is routinely replaced every 5 or so minutes, it begins to lose its effect and is effectively rendered useless. So wearing the same mask throughout the day ain’t gonna do anything.

So what would you have me do? The best thing most people can do is carry on and do what you would normally do. Wash your hands, don't lick the footpath near hospitals, and avoid the elderly.

Why couldn’t he just leave it on your porch?

Porch? Really? Yeah mate, just next to the Hill’s hoist.

Dropped at the door of the apartment is usually what happens, sometimes signature is required.

For others, trips to the hospital for meds have been needed. Someone I know had their toilet break and needed to get spare parts.

If a signature is needed would you need to wear gloves to touch the pen or would it be a special self cleaning pen?

Not sure if you’re being serious, or just making light of others misfortunes.

My care packages have generally included, N95 masks, goggles, nitrile gloves, disposable coveralls, hair covers, thermometers, non-OH hand sanitizer. Can’t even get half that stuff outside China anymore.

Byut of apples and oranges there.

Flu has been around a long time, this is new so it can still spread a lot more. If the mortality rates stay where they are it will be pretty nasty.
Itll still be statistically more dangerous to drive your car but I bet people aren't creating threads about that telling everyone to walk.

And you seem overly invested in a doomaday scenario that evidence suggests is unlikely to occur.

Yes yes, and I went to the moon yesterday. You see, we can all say anything.

How about you quote something I've actually said that demonstrates your assertion, because hey, I have no idea why a doomsdayer would be hopping international flights at a time like this. Sounds like a bunch of bullshit, but afterall, you are the one who claimed organ failure occurs with this virus because the organs worn out by being old
