The steel was forged by the business owner the day before, a mixture of nickel and some kind of carbide (? Idk, can't remember)

Pretty fun process. Took around 7 hours from start to finish, a lot of stopping to yap in that time though.

Disturbing to me that a political party in a supposedly developed nation can run a campaign like that, and have someone with as many disqualifying traits as Trump does as its leader, and yet enough people are willing to overlook that and vote against their own interests because of effective propaganda.
How does a convicted felon become president (again)? Who has said what he has said publicly? Who was prepared to call Harris “trash”? Who was prepared to demonize ethnic minorities based on known lies?
And for what? The only thing he did successfully in his last term was reduce tax paid by the wealthy. Why would anyone other than the elite think they’d be better under a second term from Trump? It’s baffling. Look on social media and there are still folks talking about “draining the swamp”, literally days after the release of the Epstein interviews where he says he was Trump’s best friend for a decade. Trump is the swamp.
I am disappointed in myself for being shocked by how stupid voters are in the States. I know we have safeguards of sorts here such as mandatory voting, and for the most part Aussies hate politics rather than treat it as pay-per-view entertainment where they have to cheer a side… but I have grave concerns that people are willing to embrace blatant misinformation, overlook rampant misogyny, turn a blind eye to to flagrant racism, and forget about separation of church and state to espouse what amounts to theocratic rule by white Christian nationalists.

It's astounding. But I don't think Australia is immune to some of that. Howard won a couple of elections on race including one with the blatant lies of Children Overboard. Dutton is going to this next election on race. They'll run with Trump's talking points and probably win.
