A few posters have alluded to Walshy's presser at the same time last year.
I was impressed by Phil from the start and I got a good feeling about Don today.
He exudes a quiet confidence, seems to know his own mind and is keen to teach the players the Pyke way.
Really liked the way he batted down the Danger question.
Really? I felt quite the opposite to be honest - this time last year Walsh came across like an absolute machine in his first presser. I had so much belief in him after that & it continued throughout the season.

Today, I thought Pyke looked like a bit of a muppet - he seemed hesitant & uncertain. I don't want to be too harsh on him, I just didn't get the same feeling I had last year with Walsh. I ain't pumped up, that's for sure.

Having said all that, I'm glad the search is over & we have a coach to kick off the trade period.

I like that we've focused on the tactics and strategy side in our last two coaching appointments. For me picking a coach primarily based on their people skills feels like playing a player who isn't that great just because he's got good leadership skills... kind of like VB.
you sort of have a point, except Walsh had exceptional people skills to go with the tactics and strategy side of things.

hopefully Pyke has too, early impressions pretty good.

I didn't get the same feeling of excitement/anticipation, but I think it is way harsh to say he came across as a muppet. Different personality, but he knows his footy and has the strength of personality to make it happen.

I'm the same. Which isn't anything to do with Pyke, but because Walsh turned me into a believer pretty damn quickly now and he's not here anymore.
