In regards to the Elsternwick v Hawks 2's game on the weekend:
As noted already here the umpiring from the Hawks' umpire was fair and even handed, and well done to him particularly for umpiring the first half of the game on his own. It is a tough gig to be a 2's umpire and they should all be given a lot of credit just for getting out there each week, more often than not copping flak from both sides. It is nice to see this issue has been put to rest (for the time being at least)
In regards to the Hawks player who went off following an epileptic fit, all reports are that he is doing fine.
In regards to 'Wheels' going off in an ambulance - It is fair to say that no player or supporter of any football ever wants to see someone have to be taken from the ground in an ambulance.
In this case there must have been some head contact, that is evidenced by the presence of his injuries. At the time, however, no free kick was paid, and no players from either team seemed upset at the contact.
I speak for myself and I'm sure all my team when I say that I hope Wheels is alright and will be back on the park soon. As I said, it is a sobering thing to see someone get injured in footy, especially when that injury is to the head, neck or back.
It is disappointing to see accusations fly around after the event.
To label this a "Cowardly act from a cowardly football club" is to generalise to extremes. It is a shame to see people paint an entire club with a brush tainted by one incident which, as I said, no-one viewed as improper at the time. That being said, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and it is these opinions and passion which makes this forum interesting to read.
