Seen a few games in various Dgrades of the Ammos in my time and read alot about the other teams but never posted anything, but after reading the record a few weeks back and seeing a D4 top 10 that was pretty close to being spot on in my eyes, followed by talk in other grades of their top 10 I was wondering what people thought of a current D3 top 10??? Based on Performance, Reputation & how they can Influence match results and their teams performance??

What a great idea/thought provoking task. Great bunch of players. Would it be possible for someone to do a run down of each player in the list's playing position, football playing history (If known), strength and weakness?

Lastly, at a glance it would appear that most of the players are Key Position? Is this an accurate observation?

gorringe plays in the guts for uni. gets his own ball and can pinpoint a target anywhere. weakness: hasnt taken mark of the year yet

talk about opening Pandora's Box ...

I see you have you have put two Willy players in the top 10 (D Lee at 2 and C Taylor at 7) ...

agree they are both damaging ...

however I'd have to say M Lishman has been our best midfielder by far and chopped up sides ... J Wong (the best Asian in D3) is a goalkicking midfielder who got about 30 p's and kicked 4 goals (the diff against Eltham) and has done it all year ... and B Hynes who is a full back who has kept all the forwards quiet and prevented them from kicking big goals against teh CY's and just behind Wells

As good as C Taylor has been ... these guys are in front of him ... food for thought

C'mon guys no need to get Nikko all excited like that only to break his heart! Maybe you should check the VAFA website next time before you get sucked in again with strangers offering you candy Nikko???

The Willy match on the weekend was built up as a must win match for us and we played accordingly, if not for inaccurate kicking again we would have had Willy beaten and as if it was Déjà Vu with a 30+ point lead we had 3 injured players out for the rest of the game come to the bench, then with not enough midfield rotations to continue or game plan we again got run down but not without everyone giving their all, and that's all I can ask for as a coach. Of course we did cross that fine line between passion & frustration and myself included became very frustrated with how the result was heading in the last 1/4 with all the over umpiring etc. (but we won't criticise anything there!) I take full responsibility for getting a little carried away with yelling at the umpires about their decision making, and that is something I/we all have to address as a group over the remainder of the season. Possibly an umpires appreciation day could help????

In all we can take away alot of positives from our 2 games against Willy this season now as they are the yard stick and as an improving young team with key players back, a bench after 1/4 time & better discipline we don't have too far to go to reach and pass the standards they've set, so till next time we meet boys!

Cheers,
Hollywood

Awesome Work Coach - I've allways found that abusing the umps and calling them cheats helps you get over the line in close games............

Wow, I didn't expect you Willy boys (Percy, G&B) to come out on the forum all cocky and start telling everyone how great you guys are and whats wrong with every other club, sounds to me like you guys are just perfect and that maybe you should be playing A grade instead of D3 Ammos??? So why aren't you then???

I stated in my comments before, that you're the yard stick and I was identifiying the things we need to improve on to reach that level after losing both games by a couple of goals to you. We also kicked 5.7 & 7.9 in quarters against you that if it was 9 or 10 goals the game should have been over, was what I was referring too in regards to inaccuracy. As for injured players 2 have been season ending and all injuries occured in the first half whilst leading. Not here to make excuses, just identifiying were we fell done and need improve if we want to knock off Willy & Hathorn?? It looks to me as though you "certainly" don't know much at all Gold n Blue and I would focus on problems at your own club before judging of others.

Not too sure that there are too many problems at a club that is yet to lose a game............

I think Willy played away round 1 2002 in grade D1 against Parkdale Vultures at the old Southern Road reserve. Pouring rain and were belted. Their coach that year didn't last long at it might have been a tough year from there . . . they then stayed in D2 until 2007 ? ? Is that about right ?

They did lose to Powerhouse in the D3 Grand Final (seniors) in 2000. But whilst Willy went up again, The 'House went 0-18 in 2001 in D2 . . . . I think Hawthorn also have endured a 0-18 year in section D2 . . .
At least the house had a flag to console themselves. Does this suggest that the house had a few "ring-ins" in their sides? Or perhaps major retirements in 2000? Still, a good club whos fortuines fluctuate at times.

must have been a ripper at the fearon today! willy up by 38 at half time, hawthorn kicking 11 goals 5 in the third quarter and eventually getting up by 12. i see the willy two's bounced back though as expected.. hawthorn flying under the radar now seem to be genuine contenders!

was good to get back on the winners list at eltham, three losses on the trot wasnt good.

other interestings results with the wicks punishing st johns, and also the house getting up over monash. looks certain to be an exciting 2nd half of the yr in D3!

11.5 to four straight in the third. Hawthorn had the wind (not much of it) in the third and capitalised. Willi failed to take advantage of it (before it died away) in the last.

I think the key thing was the positional changes that Hawthorn made at half time. In the second quarter they squandered a huge number of opportunities by turning it over in the forward line. There was a period there where the midfield would deliver, chf would bang it into the fifty, and there'd be a conveniently placed tall from Willi to grab the ball and send it up the other end for a score.

The peanut gallery were in full cry behind the goals, they seemed to get a little excited when the Towners got within two points a couple of times late in the game. Hawthorn kicked the sealer with a couple of minutes to go, to take it out by 8 points.

Excellent game, spoiled only by D.Lauletta getting feral early on and being rewarded with a free trip to Elsternwick on Tuesday night.

Went down to EP No.2 to watch Leigh Murphy play his 300th. Seems everything went to script. First & last goal? How does that go? Collusion by both teams? Whasup?
Anyhow, the 'wicks were all over it. The Saints sent their "B" team....Methinks finals are not a plan when you kick one goal per quarter! Or is it? Have the house got a firm grasp on 4th? Have the Vultures got enough in the tank to stay in the run to finals, do Monash?
What about the 'wicks? Flash in the pan, or are they making a serious run to miss the drop? The Swinny and the 'trobers are booking an early end of season trip! Well, it's holiday time for the alumni, maybe they will return to sort out the end of season lineup.

C Mahony form Elsternwick should be in there! He dominated the lower grades for years, though I beleive that he has missed a large chunck of this season through injury.

Along with Edwards, he is one of two form this level to play in a VAFA representative game, in 2006.

Great effort from Elsternwick's stalwart Leigh Murphy on his 300th game (and last i believe) for the club

Ventured to EP 2 yesterday. Great day for the legend. Scriptwriters got it right - first and last goal to the champ. Great win for the Wicks and congratulations to Murph on a great career. A staunch clubman and champion bloke. Here's hoping the win is the catalyst for the boys to make a charge.

Any side that has C.Mahony playing but not starring must be giong OK!

Is he back playing Sidewinder? He went down like he got shot when we played the wicks back in round 5!

Its good to see such an even competion with all but two sides fighting it out of the finals, Williamstown getting beaten just giving us a little reminder that this season is not a foregorn conclusion. It will be interesting to see how they back up next week against Elsternwick who seem to be on a bit of a roll!

At this stage it may be good to see a final 4 prediction-

Mine is as follows

1. Williamstown
2. Hawthorn.
3. Eltham
4. Monash

Lemms,

great words bout leigh murphy. saturday couldnt have been written better. the magoos set up the day by winning following by the ones pounding the Jocs. but with Leigh kicking the first goal of the game and the last with about 2 mins today it was just perfect. Are the wicks back??? who knows? i have always been on the bandwagon but i wonder how much momentum this wagon will develop over the coming weeks. starting this week against willy on the rebound after their first loss.

any word on what lauletta actually did to get reported on saturday?

Monash cant make it. Losses to the House and Uni in the last 3 weeks shows they are no chance. Still between St Johns and the House. Jocs must win this weekend.
