Re: Dangerfield - rotator cuff?

He is going to have further scans tomorrow though .. makes me think there could be a few other issues, ie muscular or perhaps shoulder issues.

Re: Dangerfield - rotator cuff?

The umpire... made a mistake with this incident. Reminded me of when Robert Harvey got Ko'd and did his knee because the umpire took so long to blow the whistle.

Sums it up for me. I think the umpires, the Rules Committee and the AFL have to wear this one. In the efforts to "open up the game", they have put a player in serious danger (no pun intended) and he is not the first one to suffer potentially serious injury by an umpire taking too long to call a ball up when it's clearly going nowhere.

IIRC, the Crawford-Mattner broken arm could have been avoided the same way.

For what it's worth, I didn't feel any of the Melbourne players did anything wrong, it took all 3 of them to take him to ground. Once he was toppling there was nothing they could do. If the umpire had just blown the whistle a second or two earlier (it was clear the play was going nowhere), none of this would have happened

Re: Dangerfield - rotator cuff?

Danger had scans and has been cleared of any fractures. He is staying overnight in hospital though, under observation. Good news it seems.

Man, I've been feeling ill for hours now. But if anybody can bounce back from having their head rammed into their own stomach - its Danger.

I really hope there is no serious damage.

Re: Dangerfield - rotator cuff?

Hi All - as a newbie to these boards, is there a button or something somewhere to report offensive posts to the mods?

Each post has this image
report.gif
. Hit that button and a report gets sent to us mods to deal with idiots who have little to no respect for others.

Re: Dangerfield - rotator cuff?

Truly upsetting seeing these injuries occur to "any" player. I hope Danger makes a quick recovery and can get back to playing his best footy. :thumbsu:

Apologies for taking the bait with that utter moron on here before and giving the mods more cleanup work to do, but there are just some things I can't leave alone.

Hot diggity damn!

Hope everything is all clear tomorrow but good signs at least.

I am soooooooo relieved :D Have been in a pretty dark mood since the incident, so to know for sure that he doesn't have a broken neck will help me get to sleep tonight :thumbsu:

Hopefully he'll be cleared of serious muscular injuries and/or shoulder injuries (which I think he's been cleared of anyway) tomorrow and we can look forward to having him back in a few weeks. No doubt the crazy bastard will be trying to get himself up for the Carlton game this week!

thank goodness there's no neck damage, :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
...but Carlton are the last team you'd want to rush a player back from injury for...considering what happened last time.

Re: Dangerfield - rotator cuff?

First bit of good news today!!!

I heard on Fox that his family was at the game........
What a traumatic experience for them to go through and I am so happy for them that there are no fractures.
Patrick is only a young man and it must have been a terrifying experience to go through.
I know it's not quite over yet and it will be a long night for him and his family.

The Crows may have lost their way on the playing field recently but I believe the AFC performed very professionally in the medical treatment of their injured star.

Well said HC. The news is looking better - what a huge relief - but its going to still be a very long night for his family...

Re: Dangerfield - rotator cuff?

He's referring to the bump on a blindsided Porplyzia whose shoulder was injured. The impact knocked Porps out for a split second, and he was unable to protect himself, landing on his head. It was an ugly incident, I think the player who bumped him got a week from recollection.

Re: Dangerfield - rotator cuff?

Forgotten the way the Carlton players used Porplyzia as a pinball, resulting in him being KO'ed?

That'd be it...for starters I thought doppelganger was referring to something involving Dangerfield against Carlton, and that occurred a couple of years ago, not last time as stated.

Anyway, that was quite the throwaway line regarding Dangerfield trying to get himself up for this week, no chance of this happening. Even if he did, what would they target...his head? Let them, we'll play him out of the goalsquare, he'll get 10 goals from free kicks and Carlton players will get a combined 27 games at the tribunal :p
