Would love Rodan - very much the type of clearance player we need. I could never ever see our club doing that though.

Swannies seems to have some Swiftesque opinions on some of his beloved Swannies though!

I did see SD first game of 2012 against WP and 10 disposals in the first quarter including taking the ball from the Centre bounce with a few bounces for a goal was pretty impressive by Motlop . I hinted a AFL call up in 2013 but was rebuked by few and many , FWIW Greg harding reckons he is the best WAFL draftee of the year and certainly has the speed factor .

I love rodan as a player but im not sure he's what we need. He is dynamic but again he is very small and from what i've seen has a habit of getting beaten defensively again and again.

Personally i'd love nothing more than acquiring a couple of quality half forwards who can run through the middle. It would not only add to our forward line potency but also to the midfield rotation. Mature guys with solid bodies. We need to try and target those who are realistic gets. I was sure that wellingham has signed but maybe not. An offer 100k or so above what collingwood are offering plus an extra year on the contract may be enough. Shit lets be realistic the salary cap is set to expand what about 20% over the next 4 years? Offer wellingham a 4 year contract. 400 or 450k a year might seem light too much for him now but in 4 years time that would only be 4% of our salary cap. Not bad for a guy who at the time would likely be in or bordering on our top 10 players. He's played 80 odd games and has just turned 24. Get him now and we'd have him for the peak of his career. Shit even if uncontracted he costs us our first round pick he's definitely worth it imo.

Our run for a premiership is now and i for one (unlike most it seems) am all for talent that is proven over some potential pipe dream superstar that we may or may not pick up with pick 15-20 in the draft.

I can guarantee we will have more salary cap room for the next couple of years even if it means we potentially cost ourselves a future premiership isn't one in the hand worth at least two in the bush?

I agree, Sylvia fits your description very well. He's a lot like Shuey in the way he plays (or the other way around).

What about Cruize Garlett or Gerard Ugle? Both would come fairly cheaply I would imagine (Garlett's value may have gone up over the last couple of weeks though), and both have pace and good skills.

The only thing that is stopping us from being a potential flag threat is our midfield, and it's either a serious improvement on who currently plays or it's a root and branch changes.

Realistic gets are suspect best 22, will these guys win us a flag? Unlikely.

Let Geelong's list management be a lesson to us.

If you added sylvia and wellingham to our best 22 at the expense of mcginnity and adam selwood i think we'd have a top 4-6 midfield, the top forward line and a top 2-4 defence. Good structures, good depth and a decent run with injury and i'd put as a very good chance at a premiership.

It's out of:

Dalziell
Neates
Stevens
Stevenson
Strijk
Swift
Weedon

Stevenson is already gawn IMO.

Stevens will be traded, probably to Essendon, St.Kilda or the Doggies.

We'll only keep a minimum of 1 out of either Neates or Weedon.

Would love to see Dalziell and Strijke retained.

A.Selwood wouldn't come out of the side for either of those two, Masten might.

McGinnity isn't best 22 at full strength and IMO not in our best 30.

Wouldn't mind us having a go at Wellingham as well, Has a bit of class IMO.

Problem is i can't see him leaving the Pies

As much as everyone hates it, including myself, mcginnity is best 22. With the blokes that are missing selection on skill and talent it is undeniable the match committee see things in a different light to the way we view things.

Thoughts on Pearce at Port?

Another restricted free agent.

Still keen on Montagna if he was interested.

Not really interested on montagna as i dont think he adds anything we need. He's just another small mid who's mainly outside. He's good at what he does but not worth chasing. (i've probably always underrated him though as i personally dont think he's really much better than rosa) I've already mentioned i'd love to have pearce.

Montagna is a lot better than Rosa.

What are we going to do with Swift? I am thinking just a straight de-list as we are only likely to get those Homebrand potato chips for him

What draft pick do you want for Stevens or would you prefer a player?

Yes it was - and thats why I made mention a few pages back that there were some in football circles who believe WC hadnt done as well out of the last 4-5 drafts as others despite the perception many hold of WC being "really good drafters". The flip side to this is that WC drafted well (both Smith and Stevens were highly regarded pre their drafts) but they seem incapable of developing the talent thats is at their disposal.
The loss of Cousins and Judd and the regular injuries to Kerr in 07 and 08 seem to spook WC into drafting a whole number of hard at it midfielders, on the knowledge that some were likely to be jettisoned along the way which is what is happening now. Perhaps the focus on the strong bodied usually slowish inside midfielders with good defensive skills, meant they missed those who had more flair like Zaharakis and Beams, players of which are always needed in a well rounded team, despite their defensive efforts being questionable at times.

WC picked up Schuey before Zaharakis so I'm pretty sure WC and EFC are happy with that decision

What do we want or what do we think we will get? 2 completely different questions.

Realistically though. Your 2nd round pick, straight swap.

Would rather look at a swap for Coyler. We need players who have the ability to contribute towards winning a flag in the next 2 years not another 18 yr old who will take 2 seasons to get big enough.

Coyler would be an upgrade on Hams in our side as he is younger, much quicker, can play up the ground but still kicks goals.

If Essendon somehow get a GWS compo pick we'd be interested in that even if we needed to add a pick of our own. We could then bank it to help get Conlgio:)
