I thought Perth had over taken Sydney in cost of medium house price and general living expenses . Where the **** is our COLA ! We have enough trouble attracting our W.A boys home let alone an eastern stater
Perth's house prices are nowhere near Sydney's - not that I think it should be relevant.

Heath Shaw would be a very good acquisition ability wise so we would have more than one option rebounding off half back. Unfortunately he is another tosser...

How on earth do they have that much room in their cap. Mumford would be on, what, $450K?
They just said on trade radio he came to sydney on $900k/3 years if that gives you any indication. I'd say you are close to the wind with $450k larri.

Given Sydney get an allowance for living expenses, one could question why Brisbane and Adelaide have a salary cap the same as WA or Vicorian sides.

Anyone have a clue as to where we stand with our salary cap? Comparing our situation with Sydney, who could plausibly have Tippett and Franklin added to their list within 12 months of winning a flag, seems non-sensical to me (even taking into account the 9.8% concession that Sydney are given). Forget about players not wanting to move west, money is what usually speaks volumes.

So where is our money being invested, West Coast?

Cost of living expenses are more than just housing:

Numbeo, a website that claims to collate the world's largest database of user-contributed data about cities and countries worldwide, now rates the West Australian capital more expensive than Darwin, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne for consumer goods, including groceries, restaurants, transportation and utilities.

The AFL is equipped with neither the intellect nor commitment to deal with the challenges of maintaining a salary cap that is constantly reflective of median housing prices. Nor should we expect them to be. The whole thing should be scrapped, I say. bombard (post above me) makes a valid point too. There are a plethora of variables that need to be taken into account. Median housing prices is the AFL's "easy way out" in justifying the salary cap concession granted to Sydney.

I really need to move from Sydney or ask for COLA. Tough here.

I don't disagree.

And as above, I realise housing cost is merely one component of living expenses, however, it's a significant one.

Well I'm mistaken ! Can we get some DIET COLA

Seems like Matty White has requested a trade to port, looks like we either werent interested or missed out, could have been handy i feel

How bout we dont put our hand up to take all the spuds and delistees from other average sides eh?

Matt White-very vanilla and despite his highlights package is a quick runner but not much more.
Leroy Jetta- Oh come on,...you gotta be kidding? Never done anything of note in all his games and is as soft as they come on field.
Xavier Ellis- Nope, always too injured.
Chris Yarran- Talented but doesnt offer enough consistency for me so i'd be happy to give it a miss.
Eddie Betts- Not really interested unless it involved no loss of draft picks and not large money.
Heath Shaw- may be a bit of a d1ckhead, but he can play, so if it didnt cost much i'd consider it, but no loss of first round or second round draft picks or the deal doesnt get done.
Tom Ledger-Has asked to be delisted by St Kilda so i'd talk to him about coming and doing pre season with us, and if he impresses then look at selecting him as high up as we can in whatever draft costs us the least.

IMO, we should be using the draft to get the best mids we can, while in the meantime talking to JOM and offering him a million a season for 3 seasons to get him home if we can afford it. If not him, then get onto Coniglio and see how much he wants to come back and get a deal done. I know that these guys are contracted but everyone has thier price, and if we can get one of these two ready made young mids, then i'd look at offering a first round draft pick plus steak knives if needed. If we cant get that done then as i said before, our fall back position should be the draft.

All of this needs to be done with the new coach as well. I wouldnt leave it up to our drafting staff or our management to lead the direction of the club onfield as they have been sorely lacking in that department lately. (I know its not the ceo's job to draft or develop talent but i would of prefferred that no-one was upgraded from the rookie list without a new coach being on board, and so they should of vetoed anyone making that decision). They also shouldnt of let Rosich go because doing so strengthened our cross town rival and is a big part of thier current success.
