Maybe they are sat in the pub saying "heck it ... we've got 3 weeks."

'Maybe if we don't trade them they will stay'.

The fact that Brisbane haven't finalised potential deals with Collingwood, St Kilda, Port Adelaide, Carlton and West Coast shows our incompetence?

Definitely not our incompetence.

Didn't you get the memo? It's Priddis/Whoosh's fault the deal hasn't been done yet

Did those other clubs trade out of the Top 10 specifically to get a pick for their Brisbane departer?

Brisbane are a rabble. But us trading down only makes sense if that pick was locked in with Brisbane for Yeo. If we were simply hopeful that it would work cos it trumped Freo (per the yahoo news report) then it does show our incompetence.

It makes sense more generally if our recruiters think there's little difference between the 6th-15th ranked kids but a big drop-off after the top 30. Even if we didn't get Yeo (or left him for the PSD), it gives us a third crack at the top 30 (or 31) for what is a negligible loss at the top end.

I'm a supporter of the trade if we get Yeo. Given up the small chance at a slider from the elite group or losing some of our options in an even group for Yeo is well worth it.

Doing that for a random pick 31 in a draft that falls off a cliff after 20-25 is stupid ...

It would be completely lol-worthy if they lost all of Yeo, Docherty, Longer, Polec etc into the PSD because they took such a hard line.
In fairness, of course, what they possibly want is still unders for these players, but still.

That'd be a real slap in the face.

This. They are trying to convert them to follow Justin "The Leader" Leppitsch.

nananananananana Leppo, nananananananana Leppo, Leppo, Leppo!

The leader does look a bit like Crazy Leppo doesn't he? :D And these:

Brisbane: "You're free to leave at any time you want Yeo, but would mind telling us why?"
Yeo: "Oh I just didn't uh, I didn't think that... I guess I can stay..." *sits back down*

Yeo officially ours for pick 28.

Brissie threw in some lube and a box of condoms to ease the way..

The Brisbane Lions and West Coast have finalised a deal in which out of contract defender Elliott Yeo will join the Eagles in return for a second round draft pick. Under the deal, the Lions will receive West Coast's second pick, no 28, in exchange for the promising Yeo, whom many from rival clubs believe is the best performed of the uncontracted players who are leaving the Lions. The Eagles traded their second rounder, no 28, rather than the second round choice they received from Collingwood, no 31, as part of the deal that saw the Magpies move down from pick 11 in the draft to pick no 6.

Found it:
