Brisbane may take McCarthy at 7 but I wouldn't mind drafting McCarthy although probably not our major need .
Merely saying we cannot bank on Sheed or Acres being available to us based on this report.
Acres was on channel 7 tonight, very impressive once again.
Talked about his leadership and how hard he has worked on his rehab, looks extremely fit.

In this age of free agency, we would be stupid to consider any one player other than Sheed and Acres. Unless we consider that player head and shoulders above those 2 which I doubt would be the case. Especially if its a cry baby Vic Metro kid.
yeah i am on the Acres bandwagon as well.... nothing against Sheed but i think this bloke will be better for us... not only can he play multiple positions but he is that bigger midfielder we need.

I'd love to get Sheed, reckon he's real quality, as close to a guaranteed gun as u can get imo. Just reckon he'll be gone by 11.
Acres (like most the others in the draft) I know very little about other than 3mins of highlights and phantom draft writeups. Seems comparable to Lennon in style. I'd like to think we'd pick the player who we rate higher on ability, regardless of where they're from.
To those in the know, how do Acres and Lennon compare? Lennon seems to be more highly rated in general, but is that just a Vic thing?
Who aren't they keen on?
I've read that they're into Bontempelli and Salem aswell. Reckon they're a big chance to end up with one of those 2 at 10, and perhaps Billings at 6 (top 5 of Boyd, Kelly, Scharenberg, Aish and Kolodjashnij).
Lack of injury thing (well, Lennon hasn't been as injured as Acres).
Lennon has a great mark and beautiful kick but is not particularly strong inside.
Either played as a lead up flanker, a marking winger or a floating back flanker most of this year.
Haven't seen Acres play so it would simply be hearsay.

Not keen on taking a punt on Rioli.
Honeychurch is a pretty reasonable forward. As he develops, that contested game of his will help him add to the midfield rotations. Big tick in his favor.

Only the top 10 draftees are flown to the actual convention on the Gold Coast. If he's going over there then chances are he's being taken in the top 10.

It's a good question, the clubs may inform the AFL ahead of time. But if not I don't see how it could be possible?
AFL probably asks clubs which players they'd like over there for PR reasons (nice photo of the kid holding his new jumper, interview with the draftees/parents- that kind of shit).
Or maybe the entire AFL is controlled by a syndicate of crab people and we're just puppets in their pre-determined game.

You'd think that most clubs would know who they want at their picks by now, especially given that coaches will have pre-season training commitments from here on.
No idea about the top 10 vs first round. I guess picks outside the top 10 are a bit more speculative in that a lot of clubs might be looking for sliders rather than having definite targets that they think they can get. Also "top 10 pick" has a certain mystique to it. But yeah, not sure.
Lennon has played more footy this year than Acres.
Lennon has played half forward all year except for tac finals where he played midfield.
Lennon is a great leading marking target at half forward.
His kicking is his weapon.
Acres played mainly midfield for west perth, but for WA he played everywhere.
Acres is a elite runner he wasn't at his best at draft camp because of his shoulder injury.
But his pre-season testing this year would of put him in the top two for beep test, repeat sprints and jumping ability
at the draft camp.
Lennon is a beautiful powerful kick of the footy Shannon Hurn style.
Acres is also a very good kick, looks like he has more time than others and rarely misses a target.
Acres is very good shot on goal, like Lennon.
I prefer Acres and at 190 cm he is perfect height, and adds what we desperately need in our midfield.
He is also a silky mover, a great player too watch on the field.
He has the bonus of being a athlete with a very good footy brain and a natural footballer which
is a rare combination.
We will end up greatly regretting it if we dont pick him up.
