Newman was never going to be moved to the rookie list.
Why not?
Now the suitable question to ask is what the hell we're planning with pick 49?You say that now.
why would he risk being drafted by another club when he has a contract? what incentive does he have to do that?
It wouldn't be up to him. If the club delists him he either tries to get signed as a delisted free agent or it's into the draft
How did heath Scotland go straight on the rookie list? Can't we do that with murray Newman?
Vozzo FFS!Maybe Vosso did know what he was doing hey!!

To do so will give every other club the entire ND worth of options, not to mention however many rookie picks till we selected him.
Which means in the above scenario only GWS, Melbourne, St Kilda, Bulldogs, and Gold Coast would have the option of picking Newman as a rookie before our first pick came around. I'm pretty sure GC would take him just to annoy us if he lasted. All it takes is 1 club to deem it worthy, and he is goneski for nothing.
The definition of stupidity.

Previously it seemed likely that Newman would be rookie listed to free up an additional spot for the draft, but since it never eventuated, we're left with an extra draft pick that we traded our compo pick for.
Why on earth would we trade what would likely be around pick 40 in next years draft (by all reports vastly superior to this year's) for pick 49 in a draft which falls off a cliff beyond the first round? The past few trade periods have revealed that we employ the most incompetent negotiators around, but such a pointless trade is surely beyond even Vozzo and co. Is there still time to delist someone before the draft, if so, who (given Newman was the obvious candidate and the contract status of our fringe players)? Or did they simply want to kill two birds with one stone and jeopardize our standing in future drafts as well as the current one?
Out: Kerr, Embley, Nico, Selwood, Hams, Morton, Dalziell, Dick, ?????????
In: Ellis, Yeo, Tunbridge, Bennel, McGovern, Pick 11, Pick 31, Pick 43, Pick 49
The f**k?
I thought the whole point of the pick exchange to GC was to give ourselves pick 43, which means we don't have to use 49 as our third.
I think we're only taking three draftees. Makes sense given we haven't made any more delistings.
The advantage of a 6 pick upgrade in the 3rd round is not much, but given that the Fraser comp pick is around the same mark (dependent on where Collingwood finish? Man it's complicated) it may work out slightly better for us (particularly if we only use 2 live picks next year).
Vozzo FFS!
They havent. Its not some magic process. If you delist him, every other club has the option to sign him as a DFA (assuming the player agrees to it). If they do not, they go into the draft.
Clubs do not delist 3rd year 1st round talented players because of indiscrestions unless they have almost no chance of making it (Lucas Cook). To do so will give every other club the entire ND worth of options, not to mention however many rookie picks till we selected him. All it takes is 1 club to deem it worthy, and he is goneski for nothing.

Good question!
If we got Sheed, Acres, Lennon or Salem we'd be satisfied. Would be mighty pi$$3d if Scharenberg, Aish or Billings dropped to 6 though.
Does anyone have draft range for Thomas Shanahan, Laurence Grsecos, Josh Deluca (eligible?) and Blaine Johnson?
Indiscretions is one thing, walking out of a game at quarter time and subsequently missing the remainder of the season, plus heading to trial on fairly serious charges two weeks after the draft is another.
We could delist him and redraft him as a rookie, safe as houses. The chances of another club rolling the dice on him in his circumstances are microscopic.

Scharenberg (6) + Yeo (28) < Acres (11) + Yeo (28) + Cripps (31) ???
Is the benefit of the extra player we received via the second round pick greater than the difference in class/quality between say Scharenberg and Acres.. That's what Vozzo's deal boils down to.
Just on paper I think Vozzo's deal looks ok. It just depends when we looks back in 5 years time on how well or badly we did..
Collingwood didn't seem to agree with Vozzo.
