Scharenberg (6) + Yeo (28) < Acres (11) + Yeo (28) + Cripps (31) ???
Is the benefit of the extra player we received via the second round pick greater than the difference in class/quality between say Scharenberg and Acres.. That's what Vozzo's deal boils down to.
Just on paper I think Vozzo's deal looks ok. It just depends when we looks back in 5 years time on how well or badly we did..
The deal hinges on the fact that presumably we aren't interested in Scharenberg (or Billings, Kelly, Aish for that matter) because we think the player who will suit our needs best will be available at 11. I think it's a fair assessment to be honest, because we need midfielders and none of those players fit that description (yet, at least). If Sheed, Acres or whoever we want is selected before 11, then that's the consequence of rolling the dice, but I think it was a dice worth rolling.
In all likelihood it was
Sheed + Yeo vs Sheed + Cripps + Yeo
As far as Scharenberg vs Acres goes, I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that Acres is a comparable or better prospect, especially for our needs.

I'm a massive Ducks fan.
I'm sorry, that must be very hard to admit.
Obviously I'd disagree, great college, great town, love them. Who is your team?
College? Michigan.
So anyway, we won't draft a West Aussie. You heard it here first (and all the other times I've said it).
2014 draft.
Shanahan - 40 - Rookie.
Grescos and Johnson - undrafted.
Won't draft with 11, or with any of our three picks?
So for 11 this could mean Freeman, Lennon, Taylor, Salem... others?

Disappointed to hear if true. How do you know?College? Michigan.

I like Sheed, and Acres, and there's always the go home issue especially with players from Melbourne.

red herring. We rarely lose players of quality back to Melbourne except for Judd.

Could have chosen Lewis Jetta instead of Sheppard, Jetta is pretty handy.Nah, you really have to take BPA with the first pick. If that is Sheed, then so be it. People have short memories. Remember the last time we drafted a WA boy with a high pick? Just because we didn't want the 'go home' factor?
His name was Brad Sheppard. See how that turned out. Can't have it both ways.
Gehrig was a fairly handy player, and there have been a number of others although not so high profile. It's always a risk. Shuey, Selwood and Gaff were all under pressure this year.We rarely lose players of quality back to Melbourne except for Judd.
BPA?

As far as knowing, it sounds like you don't know and are just guessing.
Is Lennon better than Sheed? I'm not convinced that he is. One of the things that strikes me about Sheed is leadership capability. Does Lennon have this?
BPA?
