Scharenberg (6) + Yeo (28) < Acres (11) + Yeo (28) + Cripps (31) ???

Is the benefit of the extra player we received via the second round pick greater than the difference in class/quality between say Scharenberg and Acres.. That's what Vozzo's deal boils down to.

Just on paper I think Vozzo's deal looks ok. It just depends when we looks back in 5 years time on how well or badly we did..

The deal hinges on the fact that presumably we aren't interested in Scharenberg (or Billings, Kelly, Aish for that matter) because we think the player who will suit our needs best will be available at 11. I think it's a fair assessment to be honest, because we need midfielders and none of those players fit that description (yet, at least). If Sheed, Acres or whoever we want is selected before 11, then that's the consequence of rolling the dice, but I think it was a dice worth rolling.

In all likelihood it was
Sheed + Yeo vs Sheed + Cripps + Yeo

As far as Scharenberg vs Acres goes, I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that Acres is a comparable or better prospect, especially for our needs.

When reading all the phantom draft profiles I really don't think there is a great difference from 2 to 11. There seems to be some queries on almost all players in that draft range with many not really playing midfielder roles yet either.

The same also seems the case for the 10 to 30 group so that 2nd round pick we gained may get a player we rated fairly highly anyway.

To me it was worth the gamble

Obviously I'd disagree, great college, great town, love them. Who is your team?

College? Michigan.

So anyway, we won't draft a West Aussie. You heard it here first (and all the other times I've said it).

Won't draft with 11, or with any of our three picks?

So for 11 this could mean Freeman, Lennon, Taylor, Salem... others?

Sorry, I mean with 11. I think we'll stick close to home with later picks. I'm a Lennon fan. Seems to clean with the ball, can give it a roost and play basically anywhere. Also from all reports he sounds like a great overhead mark.

Would not be adverse to Salem either. Could give us a bit of Mongrel.

Disappointed to hear if true. How do you know?

I like Sheed, and Acres, and there's always the go home issue especially with players from Melbourne.

Nah, you really have to take BPA with the first pick. If that is Sheed, then so be it. People have short memories. Remember the last time we drafted a WA boy with a high pick? Just because we didn't want the 'go home' factor?

His name was Brad Sheppard. See how that turned out. Can't have it both ways.

Could have chosen Lewis Jetta instead of Sheppard, Jetta is pretty handy.

As far as knowing, it sounds like you don't know and are just guessing.

Is Lennon better than Sheed? I'm not convinced that he is. One of the things that strikes me about Sheed is leadership capability. Does Lennon have this?

Oh no sorry, I'm not claiming to be in the know. All the talk around her is Sheed/Acres. I'm just saying don't be surprised if we pick somebody else which, in my opinion, we should.
